Reasons to be on the coach, part 3.

Steve Wild tells me this is the first time Swinton have played at Bramhall Lane.

There appears to be a bit of confusion on the Sheffield website as to where they actually play their home games.

On the "Ground Regulations" tab it clearly refers to Bramhall Lane.

But on the "Directions" tab and on the "Next Match" box the Don Valley Stadium is mentioned.

They should sort this problem out before too many visiting fans get inconvenienced by the website's ambiguity.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY THE GROUND SITUATON ASAP???

It's at Don Valley

Speaking of multiple home grounds, the very first time we met Swinton, the "away" game was played at Bolton Wanderers' Burnden Park cos Station Road was iced up and Bolton had undersoil heating, and the "home" game was played at Millmoor, Rotherham, where the Eagles were taken apart by Swintons' stand-off, a certain Danny Wilson, father of Ryan Giggs, latterly described as a "veteran".

I feel old.

Ha. Me too. We walked home to swinton that night from burnden, about six miles so my mum didnt have to pick us up.
The journey to millmoor was equally awful with thick fog on the tops. A fabulous game with ken Jones running the length of the.pitch for swinton after being sent on his way by the fabulous king Danny.
If I remember correctly daryl Powell was playing for you as well as Derek bridgeman and Roy rafferty.

You're probably right about Messrs Powell, Rafferty and Bridgeman. I'd have to check the program from the game. Swinton were a very good side in those days, and were right up to the time we met at Old Trafford and Mr Powell played one of the best I've ever seen him play. I also saw Swinton demolish Doncaster at Tattersfield in the late 1980s. The club (Swinton) has been through some pretty hard times and repsect to anyone that has stuck with them through the years.

I should write a book about the Eagles' early years...
