This is something I have been working on for year in various forms and now finally I have formally got it up into a document that I have published on my RLIS website. I would be interested to know people thoughts, on here and also please post replies on the site itself just so we have formal responses to it to think and debate over.

It is over 15 pages long so do take your time reading it.

Read the White Paper HERE.

I've put it on Rovers' unofficial forum and on SuperLeagueFans.com. I will also add a link to the interview so that many more can have a gander!

Cheers, seen it on the SLF forum, where on the HKR unofficial site is it?

That one is a restricted forum for Rovers supporters only, mate. You've got to jump through hoops to get on there. 30 people have viewed it so far, though.

Great piece of work. Very hard to argue with most of the points you make.

Can I suggest that you post it onto the main board if you want to get comments and feedback. Although it should live on this forum from a content pov, it can be a bit of a backwater on here.

I'd also suggest posting the abstract in your post as not everyone would straightaway read the whole 15 pages like I just did.

From one pass through it, I'd suggest having a bit more depth in the piece on the structure of the RLIF. I think you're confusing the governance and director level issues (ie, the voting on what happens) with the the actual day to day work that needs to be done.

An example would be your listing of a web designer as a non-voting member of the RLIF. I think I see what you're trying to say, but to me a web designer is an employee (or more likely a contracted 3rd party). He or she probably wouldn't be typically be at a board meeting. They'd actually report to some kind of Global Head of Media who would be at that meeting.

I think the structure of the RLIF is crucially important and hits on most of the other things you mention. I'd like to see an exploration of how other sporting authorities of a similar size work. That would be pretty instructive I think. My bet would be that in this area RL is miles off the pace compared to sports like handball, ice-hockey, rugby union and so on.

Hopefully none of the above is seen as unfair criticism. I think it's a great job you've done. I doubt anyone else has done this type of thinking. In fact I'd be surprised if, right now, you don't know more about global RL governance than anyone else at all.
If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.

Agree with Steve that this needs to go on the main board where more people will see it. I'll have a look tomorrow Dan.
Astute analysis from a Wigan fan:

Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.

It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.

Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.
