can only look at this from one view, foxen looked better than penny as he also breaks tackles so in my eyes, well done for freeing up his wage for a big second row, had a feeling we might not need him so its great news in my view

Disagree. Think Penny would score 15-20 tries this season, especially with Armstrong able to break tackles and supply him. Think Foxen would replace Dodd in the first team anyway.
I think its bad news.

Controversial. Not sure on this one, I imagine penny was on a good packet, so surely this does free up some cash to sign some much needed forwards, however I was looking forward to seeing more of him. Cant say im too upset though. Id rather have someone else on the wing and sign a quality loose forward personally.
Im only smiling because `no-one`'s found the bodies yet.

agreed furryenzo, penny will have been one of the big earners, who plays outside armstrong is a big question and as for 15-20 tries this season so could dodd or foxen although personally i dont regard dodd as first 13 player, foxen breaks more tackles than penny in my eyes can only be good news regarding the money. Once armstrong 'breaks tackles and supplies' he will then set foxen away you will also score, cant just rely on pennys pace too one dimension as we've seen in all 4 games

I was really looking forward to seeing him racing in for a load of tries this season but he has failed to shine so far. This deal mustve been done before yesterday. Shame. Forget it and move on.

Who says this is to 'free up cash'? he has just left us judging by this account. It doesn't seem like we had much choice in the matter, so freeing up cash would just be a result of the deal. I would have liked him to stay with us for a year, in fairness to him in his few games for the club he hasn't had a chance to shine. Watson hasn't been at his best and didnt even play in the Warrington game, a key provider of our wingers tries last season. According to Steve Mac and people at the club we were already looking at 2/3 new players before this happened.I was really looking forward to seeing him racing in for a load of tries this season but he has failed to shine so far. Not really sure what to make of this. He's not even had the chance to impress (4 pre-season games) so I doubt we had any say on the matter. He hadn't done anything to impress really. Another second row and a loose please Mr Mac!
Btw, if we knew about it before Hunslet, he shouldn't have played.

I was in the club office less than an hour ago and Ryan told me it was the first he had heard of it and he had been with JK for most of the day.

Might be a bit controversial here but.......I agree Penny didn't show much for us and he probably was on a good wage so........ how about No. 7 cover for Watto? He won't last forever and we all saw how results tailed off at the end of last season after he was injured. Ashall is doing fine at 9 interchanging with Smithy (who also won't last forever)!

From the outside looking in...he's done us right over here hasn't he? We could have had one of the other lads playing in the pre-season games, Hawkyard, Reay, Foxen, Hurst or another new signing, getting match fit and ready for the season, someone that actually wants to play for the Lions. But then again, I don't know the circumstances of his leaving so anything could have happened.
Ashall is brilliant cover at 9 or 7 as far as I'm concerned, and looks like he wants more game-time judging by his reaction after being subbed at weekend, after looking like the most creative player on the pitch for 10 mins or so! The quick play and kick over the defence was brilliant, yet so was his kick to the corner which put more pressure on Hunslet. If Watto and/or Smithy gets injured (touch wood that they don't!) Then we can always look for a loan signing. The likes of Morty, Doddy, Ainscough, Foxen, Joseph, Smithy etc, played in almost every game last season after all. If we can bring in anyone better, then fair enough I suppose.

This "story" does appear to be a little odd, after all, there's not the slightest thing on the club's website (or KP's "new club" Sale Sharks' website too).
Could it be a bit of "mischief making" by some silly so-and-so???

"Kevin Penny and Ryan Clayton won't need much of an introduction to super league fans. Both are new to rugby union but their obviously huge range of talents will be fantastic for Sale. Already their professional approach at training has been a massive boost to the group."
Taken from that link posted above. Something doesnt quite add up. Surely Penny would be under contract to play for us? In which case he couldnt leave, unless mutually agreed to do so, without a signing fee. Theres no way he could have been attending two lots of training sessions a week? Surely? And if he was missing our sessions, I strongly doubt steve mc would play him! Id say the only way this can could be happening is if the club knew and agreed to this move? But then if JK didnt mention it, it seems strange.
Im not sure what the rules and technicalities are but could he play for both teams? As in Alex Hurst last year? Are sale F.C amateur or semi-pro? Would that make a difference?
I think the best solution would be for the club to clear this up for us...

Im finding both the story and the denial hard to fathom! A communication breakdown is an understatement.
