It says in today's League Express that Fisher has now got a total release from his Batley contract and he is looking for a deal until the end of the season with Catalans. I haven't seen anything from the club on this? I wonder if they money has been used to sign Alex Brown instead?

What happens to him when the young French guy comes back from injury in 4-5 weeks? Given the fact they rate him so highly over there, will Fisher get a game past that point?

Says in the Rugby paper now their first choice hooker has a shoulder problem, so he could well be first choice.

If you were JK, would you be leaving Mennell out of the hooker position to fit Fisher back in? He has been working too hard to be moved out in all honestly!

What I saw of fisher at Batley didn't impress me. I don't blame him for wanting to play SL. Especially when he would have had a tough enough time getting a game when Mennell is playing as good as he is. I was told a couple of weeks ago that Fisher didn't expect our division to be as hard as it is?

I don't think we'll miss him and I don't think he's that good anyway. Just my opinion though.

I sort of agree with you that Mennell is a perfectly good replacement for him, and in the long run it would probably be better investing in PM than Fisher. However, I disagree with you about him not being very good. Against Dewsbury his workrate was excellelent. He did not have anytime to settle at our level, but he had unquestioned ability at a level above ours.

I wouldn't say he's not good.............actually I rate him quite highly, but PM as shown his ability in a 9 shirt this season for us and like they say, if it's not broken. Fisher wouldn't be able to jump straight into the Batley first 17. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a shirt again though!

Maybe one of the reasons Paul has been showing the form he has, is because he is aware that Fisher may well return and therefore he needs to keep on top of his game to ensure he keeps the shirt. And to be fair to him, as has been said, he has been playing very well.

The same might also be said about others who people have commented on and suggested they have raised their game. Perhaps looking round the changing room on training nights and seeing the others there ready to step in and grab the shirt has made them all move up a notch or two.

i wouldent let anyone lose a shirt if fisher came back, am sure he will try to go to another sl club if he as the chance so why build a team round maybe his couple a games before he moves on yet again.am sure the lads we have wanted to play for batley to start with i think we have the makings of a top team as we are and once the sun comes out we have plenty a lads with power and pace for sure.looking good for 2012/

If all players are fit, is this what they call a 'Coaches headache'? or a potential nightmare? Considering the club has no 2nd team.

How does John Kear aim to keep all these players fit and happy? Yes, competition for shirts is all very well. But what happens if JK keeps the same team for say 10 weeks, with no injuries. Then 11 weeks in we have a injuries crisis and 3 or 4 players out.

The Steve Beard scenario comes to mind, and the squad members get a shot, they are already at a 10 week disadvantage, by not being up to match speed. does the team then fall into a lull?
Does JK plan to duel reg some of the squad?
or is it a case of crossing that bridge when we come to it and having faith in JK?

Then again, there are those of us (possibly from the Dewsbury area) who might believe that having, say, a dozen props vieing for the same two or three shirts, isn't necessarily conducive to a happy dressing room - there have been coaches who have employed this tactic in the past without huge success

I'd say it was a case of keeping the faith. I have a feeling that he's a guy who will select the team based on form - form shown both in training and during games. If the squad is a happy one, then most players won't mind sitting out for one or two matches until they may be given the opportunity to regain their place.

Would it not be possible to arrange friendly matches with other clubs in our position (no second team) to give
a game to players who aren't in the first team maybe with reduced numbers ie 11 a side,i believe there are only
5 clubs with second teams this year so there must be other clubs who would welcome this.

Erm....I assume the players who took part in this concept would want paying? That's why we don't have a second team. Also, there'd still be transport costs etc... - another reason why we don't have a second team.
