Seems that along with Northhampton that Hemel Stags will be in the C1 next year.

I know there's alot of people that don't like expansion but I really think this is a good thing. They're going about it the right way, a well established amateur club with some history run by people dedicated to their club and RL making a step up, much more so than maybe Northampton, a club set up by bussiness men to fill a stadium in the summer.

Not entirely sure Blackhawk but I think they were rejected because the don't have a suitable ground to play at.

Expansiom is good, but only when it doesn't come at the expense of the clubs who have built the sport of Rugby League, namy for over a hundred years.

We need them to come in and ADD something to the sport, not come in and start wanting this and that concesion. Thr R.F.L. also then need to demonstrate that the expansion sides can put a reasonable number of bums on seats as seeing.

Last year Bramley were mostly low level RU players as their NCL players left with their coach (they couldn't use them now anyway). They also are tenants at a NCL ground that doesn't meet Championship 1 criteria. Hemel weren't allowed into Championship 1 until they bought a stand with sufficient seating. As of next year if they want to carry on it will be in the Yorkshire Men's League as the NCL wouldn't touch them.

They need 4 new teams as otherwise Championship 1 wouldn't have enough teams after the Championship expands and Hemel are clearly a much, much stronger bet than Bramley

Everyone knows that Whitebank isn't but apparently they were given the ctieria somr time ago and have been putting works into progress. How much truth there is to this will only become apparent as season progresses.

Hi Puggy, I was going to say that I just hope the RFL apply a "Level Playing Field" to the stags, but realised the Irony Overload as Im an ORLFC fan and Whitebank Stadium being what it is.....Makes Crown Flatt look like a bowling green! LOL!

In defence of our nearest and dearest tho' BH does Hunslets ground meet the requirements for the Championship? Isn't capacity a bit low? And don't stadia in the Championship have to have stands on two sides of the pitch? So if that's the case and Oldham should thrown out of the league for ground issues, shouldn't Hunslet?

Personally I'd be appalled if any club like Oldham, Hunslet or Batley, were to be sacsrificed at the altar of expansion whilst some Fyl-By-Night new boy comes in and takes their place.

I only used those clubs above as instances and not as clubs I fance could be in truoble, so please no, chest-beating or going off on one.

Criteria is 3000 capacity with 500 seats and 300 lux lighting. Think Hunslet might need a small temporary stand and then they'd be okay (if they apply criteria to existing teams). Hemel don't meet criteria for the Championship but are doing up their ground for Championship 1 so they're not (currently) a threat to any Championship clubs.

Hemel have been around longer than Sheffield as one example and been trying to get into semi-pro for over 20 years. Any clubs wanting to get into Championship would need to finish top 2 Championship 1 and meet ground criteria so regardless of their location they'd deserve the chance. Neither Oldham nor Hemel meet Championship criteria though.

Sorry blackhawk but I can't agree with you. Rugby league is small enough with out the likes of Oldham and Hunslet being thrown out of the Championships, where would it stop, are Castlefords and Wakefields Stadiums upto scratch?

The RFL are right to try and expand the game into other parts of the counrty outside the M62 corridor as long as it's done right. I honestly believe Hemel have gone about things the right way and will be good for the game. Just my opinion tho'.

i actually agree with u , i was responding to a Q that was asked regarding ground criteria ,in any case the R.F.L. would catch us cold with one of thier infamous goal post moving procedures.to suit whoever or whatever .

Having 2 mates who have been heavily involved with the Stags for ages now, I think it's a great development. These guys are definitely not fly by nights and I would also keep an eye out for the Coventry Bears coming up on the rails - another club with good structures which would embarrass a lot of clubs in the heartlands

Im delighted that the stags have got their opportunity! I want an expanded NL1 with more games and a rising quality.
My concern is that the RFL seem to act in an arbitrary and partisan way that just does not seem to be for the benefit of all teams equally.
For instance, take mr Rimmer, Up to 4 clubs may enter NL1, so he lowers the central funding, can someone tell me how that will raise standards and survivability in times like these?
