I remember stories from years ago coming from a RL fanzine saying they saw children playing the game there in the streets. I also recall the failed efforts of a Berrechid club trying to get the game off the ground a few years later. Hopefully this time around there is enough groundwork in place and support from the RLEF to ensure the game can continue there. Good luck!
And Rabathos - great name!

M'Barki was a Moroccan winger who switched from Rugby Union to play for London, Oldham and (I think) Hull FC.well , i swear im sorry i dont know that name because
im a new one in this game , please understand me , but i dont think so that name in morocco , maybe in tunisia , thank you so much
He returned to Morocco in the early Nineties and made attempts to establish the game there. I believe, from what I've read, that things were a bit disorganised under his leadership. I don't know if he's still in the country or whether he would be of any assistance.

Hussain was the first one to get "the chop" from the newly founded RLEF when they thought they knew best about how the game should be run in Morocco.Since then it has taken six or seven years of (French based) work to get back into the country.M'Barki was a Moroccan winger who switched from Rugby Union to play for London, Oldham and (I think) Hull FC.

Morocco and Hussain were one of the founding (affiliate) members of the RLEF in the meeting in the hotel La Fyette Paris in 2003.
Likeable if a little ecentric character.
Not sure why Evil Homer is saying "he was never involved" because people where doing things long before the RLEF was even thought of and Hussain was one of those pioneers working out of London, but getting League played in Morocco on a small basis.

One of the stories in the book 'XIII Worlds' gives some background on what sort of progress Hussain was able to make. It seemed there was enthusiasm for taking up sport, but genuine progress was hard to come by at the time. Finding somewhere decent to play was a struggle, due to another oval-ball code (strangely enough).

I believe that all of the previous Morocco entities were entirely ex-pat based apart from a single club in Berrechid that appeared to have a brief existence and I don't think ever played any matches. This is the first time there has been a legitimate governing body set up and run by Moroccans, and genuine development in Morocco. I do not regard 100% ex-pat teams playing in France as genuine development. I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring up your beef with the RLEF yet again since this doesn't really have anything to do with them, Morocco are not RLEF members yet although they have applied. But Hussein M'Barki has never been involved with Morocco Rugby League, since it was only founded last year and I'm pretty sure is nothing to do with him.Hussain was the first one to get "the chop" from the newly founded RLEF when they thought they knew best about how the game should be run in Morocco.Since then it has taken six or seven years of (French based) work to get back into the country.

I was under the impression that when M'Barki started as a development officer back in 1993, he was actually working in Morocco. As others have said, the work that went on in Morocco was sporadic, but well documented. It was only much later (2000's?) that another organisation was set up based around Moroccan ex-pats in France.I believe that all of the previous Morocco entities were entirely ex-pat based apart from a single club in Berrechid that appeared to have a brief existence and I don't think ever played any matches. Rugby League European Federation http://www.rlef.eu.complease can you tell me what that mean ( RLEF) im sorry for that uestion , but just answer me
thank you
It is the governing body for Rugby League in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Morocco is not yet a member because the sport is new there, but I think they have applied to become members and will be accepted soon.
