Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Northern Rail Cup match between Hornets and South Wales has been postponed, to be rearranged at a later date. As soon as we have rearranged the fixture, we will publicise the new date.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

There was a slight difference in that the game was called off 10 minutes before kick off after players and supporters had already travelled so it was to avoid the high travelling costs being repeated.
There is a flip side though, in that it's a games less gate money for your club, and presumably a weeks less appearance money (and the chance to earn winners money) for the players

What I find interesting is whoever made this call, and the implication is that it is the RFL, have not bothered to explain what the circumstances beyond their control are.

The gates should have been thrown wide open for all comers with the costs of the match expenses being under written by the Board.
Who knows who may have turned up?
Whats is the statement my mate Puggy has as his Mantra?

An oversized cowpat thats ours, and not shared with the Football club, and part owned by the RFL, of which twice as many go there than yours. Good friday , my friend, you will see a big crowd for the first time this season.Hilarious. Mind you, anyone would need a sense of humour to go to that oversized cowpat more than once and be sadly lacking in any other sort of sense !

It seems South Wales unable to field a team
If true it undermines the credibility of the competition (not necessarily the first time though).
Sports governing body of the year? - they are having a laugh.

Just a shame its at such a late time to call the game off
This would have been a good run out for the U23s and sure they will be disappointed at
having missed a chance to play at Spotland
Then you have the programmes and other things that would have already been done
which will come at cost the club for the game thats seeming unlikely of being played !
(Contrary to what some Idiot would have us believe)
Just have to look forward to Sunday and a great day out
(Cockermouth here we come )
As for the award well really beggars belief

We both know that its a struggle to keep the gates up below super league for both our clubs but without the lower tiers the game would die as were would the players come from ?
Cc/cc1 get a b##### raw deal when it comes to the money being dished out and over the past few months its not getting any better
Its a shame that 1 person can repel not just the away supporters but also their own lifelong supporters
Lets hope for a good season for both our clubs and that the clowns stay at the circus

Donny v Celtic Crusaders was voided a couple of years ago. I believe that this year's other outstanding game (Skolars v Toulouse) has already been voided by the RFL.
A little common sense from them would've avoided this embarrassing situation.
I'm told that the NRC will change structure next year. For the better, I hope.

Pugwash.
The statement by Deepak Chopra the most famous of Indian Public Speakers, I really do hope the Damned NRC is scrapped as its a load of rubbish, why cant the Lancashire Cup be brought back to be played out by Championship and Championship 1 clubs

I wonder how true this is. What proportion of the playing staff of super league clubs came through championship clubs (I mean were developed by them,, not simply played there at some point in their career under 'dual registration' etc?) Given the recognised increasing gap between SL and championships I suspect the proportion is getting smaller over time as SL clubs snap up the best kids early before they sign for championship clubs and of course raid the southern hemisphere with their SL money. If my assumption (and that is all it is) is true it would mean that SL is depending less and less on Championships for its supply of talent - which could be why the championship clubs appear to be less of a priority in RFL thinking. Scary thought eh?
Incidentally while on SL-Championship relationships what happened to the link up with Bradford and can anyone document anything that was of benefit to Hornets as a result of the link?
