Reading the posts on the other London thread got me thinking about a possible London representative side. People go on about resurrecting Yorks v Lancs but would a decent side made up of London area (how big this area would cover I don't know) players be possible taking into account players like LMS and Will Sharp and possibly others who now ply their trade away from London? Or is this notion too far down the track to consider now?

Fair question, it would be nice to know how many "good" Londoners , playing to a standard' could be competitive to play yorks, lancs, Cumbrians
Or we could have a combine London / welsh team to play the Cumbrians / other counties ( played at same time as the exiles game )

Where is Darrel Griffin from? I know he came into RL via the Oxford Cavaliers.

Sam Tomkins could captain them, born in Milton Keynes where they have probably never seen a game of RL!

Milton Keynes had a club in the 80s and early 90s but nothing for about 20 years. Until this year when Milton Keynes Wolves are starting.

A North v South + (Wales) is the only Origin match that will cause any genuine interest amongst the fans and public at large. North South rivalry is has and always will exist and will even get non RL fans involved as the whole country would take sides - which a Lncs v Yorks game never will.

We need to define South as including the Midlands so that any players born there and come through e.g. new Midland clubs from Notts, Coventry Birmingham etc. increases their player pool to make it genuinely competitive game where either can win.

Impossible at the moment because development at grass roots down south is not big enough and so far has only the Broncos in SL. When we have had maybe 3 clubs in SL for abot 10 years we may be able to do it though.

We know its not gonna happen in our lifetime though dont we.

Could always have Yorkshire vs Lancashire and then North (being Cumbria and North East) vs South (everywhere below Yorkshire and Lancashire). Played at the same time as England vs Exiles so it acts as a trial game for those not involved in the England set up to step up and take their place for the second game.

Totally agree. I would love to see the day when a squad of southerners shuts up the 'heartlands'.

Would London v Cumbria be competitive? Could it be promoted as City v Country? I'd like to see such a fixture, buit can't see it pulling in a big (viable?) crowd at either location. This game wouldn't have much meaning as a trial game, but could be used as a tool to develop the game in two strategic areas that arguably need central support.

Yorkshire v Lancashire means nothing to me as a Cumbrian; England v Exiles has far more meaning and enthusiasm.

disques vogue

The club where Eurovision isn't a dirty word. A waltz through the leopard skin lined world of Tom Jones, Bert Kampfert and Burt Bacharach. Step out to the sound of the happy hammond and swing to the seductive sounds of the samba.

DJ's, raffles, cocktails and wide collars. Please dress smart. Gentlemen might like to wear a suit.

Same price. Same music. Same rubbish prizes.

I played a MK in the 90's and we had to stop play because the heavy rain(almost monsoon style) turned into nasty hail, and we had to run for cover.
