Alibert did make a mistake, but he wasnt to blame for the tackling
Like i said in the game thread, wakey came with a game plan and did very well.
Wires out scored you in tries and goal kicking let us down.
Wakey should be proud of the effort on Sunday and take loads of positives from the result.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
Please remember :-

It's to send a strong message out to the other refs.I agree I can't see the point, (but as above )maybe this is Cummings apologising to you (wakey fans)

Alibert was poor and has been for some time.
I want him to be a top ref as the game needs a top french ref, especially for Tests. Sadly hes not the answer.

If Alibert has been dropped in an attempt to get him to up his game fair enough.
What annoys me though is the inconsistencies. Silverwood is probably in my opinion the top referee but by anybodies standard had a very poor game last Saturday on the Bradford V Saints match. I'm not advocating all referees should be dropped - there would be nobody left - but he's been rewarded with the pick of the games this week Wigan V Warrington.
What sort of message does this send out.

If he has lost his way a bit (2nd time in 3 games he has made a counting error) then a game in the lower division with less attention and pressure is not a bad thing. Provided it is positioned as that rather than a demotion, or dropping.

Do they play 7 tackles in the lower divisions?

tackling for a set of 7 on your own line is part of the game Wakefield should have resisted!
Had it been the other way round I am sure Wire would have accepted it with as much grace

The fact is that some will always moan about the ref, some will get on with it.tackling for a set of 7 on your own line is part of the game Wakefield should have resisted!

Wakefield havent made masses of fuss, some fans are naturally annoyed. I suspect itd be the same if it happened to any club. Except maybe Bulls as Mick would drown out any reasonable fans!!!

Think yourselves lucky, Swinton v Dewsbury had to suffer the indignity of having Tim Roby the forward pass king. Ian Smith was sat just in front of me and had a face like stone watching him!

lucky referee's never miss any forward passes, knock on's, incorrect play the balls or moving off the mark, among others .. otherwise they'd all be missing a week..

Given all the other things the ref has to consider at any given moment, I'm surprised miscounting doesn't happen more often. I was thinking that maybe we should give the responsibility to some other official, but to be honest it just doesn't happen often enough to be an issue.

Was thinking similar myself. consideting the amount they talk to the players nowadays it must grt confusing at times.Given all the other things the ref has to consider at any given moment, I'm surprised miscounting doesn't happen more often. Which other official can communicate to the players fast enough?
Miscounting happens, but given the hundreds of decisions made by a referee every game, and the pace at which it is played at pro level, it's not too surprising. Thierry may be a bit unlucky that it resulted in a try that could be perceived to have contributed to costing a team a game but I'm sure that he'll be trying extra hard not to do it again.

It is confusing and we all do it at times however the reality is that this is a black and white issue and as such cannot be down to quite literally not having seen something or had a good view on something. The last officials to do this in a pro game was also dropped though popular belief is that this doesn't happen ;-)

Yet missing the most blatant knock-on by Catalans is OK!
