However, a good result for us, a big plus is the ZERO conceded. All of the lads played well in a professional performance. Morty, Higson, the Hawkyards and Ashall really impressed. Martin Ainscough also had another top game, let's hope his injury isn't too bad, it looked like a knock on his knee but he hobbled off rather than being helped off. Al Hurst looks like he's pulled his groin and could be out for a few weeks which is sad seeing as he'd played well in his last two games.
Batley next week will be very tough, let's hope we can get the points!
Team for next week...
R.Hawkyard
Dodd
Armstrong
Higson
Mort
Ainscough
Watson
Morrison
Smith
Holland
Cunniffe
D.Hawkyard
I'Anson
Ashall
Foxen
Meekin
Gorski
BTW, when's the draw for the 4th round?

Spoke to Steve after the game and he said Martin Ainscough had a clash of knees but should be ok. Seemed to be walking ok when i saw him on his way home. Alex Hurst did pull his groin so they will look at him. Mark Smith has been struggling with his back but Dave McConnell got his chance behind Karl Ashall today. And Chaz I'Ansons nose is a bit of a mess but seemed ok after the game.
Hope that helps you

Played for St Helens, Chorley Lynx,London Broncos , Leigh Centurions (Twice) and Rochdale.
Scotland International is a Hooker but can play at Half back, Second Row or Loose Forward.
Has been out of the game for about 18 months when he had a bad leg injury but has been training with the Lions for some time to get his fitness back and today was his chance.
Hope that helps

It remains to be seen if the two Saints didn't play due to the nature of the opposition, or if the sacking of Royce Simmons has changed their plans.
Dave McConnell an interesting debutant. When fit he's too talented a player to not be playing regularly, but by far his best position of hooker is already well covered by Smith and Ashall. It will be difficult to give all three of them enough game time.
3 very tough league fixtures now on the bounce, at least they are all effectively at "home". May will be considerably easier.

10-6 when the two sides last met and although it seems longer, that was only 3 years ago. A much more emphatic win is a good benchmark of the progress made under Steve McCormack.

I was presuming the reason they didn't play is so they would still be available for Saints in the cup if they do get recalled.

Obviously nothing less than a win was expected today against the amateur (albeit a decent) side. Couldn't make it to the game, but glad to see the lads put in a professional performance, and I'm looking forward to reading Riggy's match report.
FAO Riggy.
Just been taking info from your (super) match report on the club's website and noticed a mistake where you show Siddal's team at LSV. Re "Gareth Blackburn" shown twice (2 and
Siddal :-
1.Scott Caley
2.Gareth Blackburn - HE'S HERE ONCE @ No 2.
3.Matthew Batley
4.Ross Coates
14.Emerson Newburn
6.Chris Brooke
7.Stephen Illingworth
8.Gareth Blackburn - HE'S HERE AGAIN @ No. 8 (Isn't he versatile?)
9.Simeon Hoyle
10.Scott Law
18.Chris Geoghegan
12.Nick Smith
13.Luke Simeunovich
Subs (All Used)
15.Craig Sanderson
16.Shaun Blackburn - HIS BRUVVER?
17.Liam Green
20.Gary Lewis
Can you please do the honours Riggy and amend when you have a minute?
Cheers from B.M.
