The Trust have bought a tankard as a momento to give to Ian Watson for the record number of Welsh caps he's gained. As a great honour Billy Boston has agreed to present it to him.

This will take place in the White Horse (before you ask, yes the Horse) after this Sunday's match at roughly 5pm.

Please come along and show your support.

Well worth going to the White Horse just to see the legendary Mr Boston, who many of you won't have had the good fortune to see in action due mostly to your relative youth. I'm one who can safely say that I was lucky enough to have seen the former Wigan No 2 in action. Billy really was an all-time-great in his day and, for a big and powerfully built man, was very nimble and light footed as he swerved and sidestepped through defences with ease.
The try which he scored that I remember most was when he snatched Wigan a 15-15 draw in the Challenge Cup at Central Park back in February 1964. In the replay at Station Road days later the Lions came out as victors 13-8, 26,891 and all that, as they say. IMO the game was far, far better in every way than the stuff churned out these days.

Remember everyone to get to the White Horse on Worsley Road in Swinton (near Broadoak Garden Centre) for this presentation at 5pm.
A nice beer after the match and to meet two icons of rugby league.

Given directions to a local pub by saying it's near a garden centre. Not so long ago it would have been the other way around, i.e., directions to a garden centre saying it's near a certain pub.

How times have changed eh?
