Absolutely AWESOME performance from 1-17! Not enjoyed a game as much for ages. Great to see Watto back to his best and we have a new prop star in Forster.
And lets not kid ourselves. We beat a very very good team today with tenacious defence and adventurous attack.

Agreed Mark super performance and for the whole of the game we looked the better side. Stunning defence and some top performances from the likes of Watto, Cuniffe the Hawkyards.......in fact all of them. Well done lads.!! Also noticed a certain Mr Penny at the game sporting a Swinton players top.!

Im sure that Cunniffe will be black and blue. Him and Darren ran themselves into the ground. Ritchie as always brilliant. They kept sending them big lads in and we kept knocking them down. Made up for the lads. Tremendous.

Today was a fantasic all round performance led by Ian Watson. I agree Forster looks some prospect. This Batley side have beaten all the top teams already this season.

An awesome performance from the lads today. Watto was my MOM, his kicking was brilliant, split the winger and fullback almost every time. He also put a couple of bombs up and a few short kicks that were really well timed. Also, didn't panic when the Ainscough bomb was kicked into his hands, he passed it out to Cunniffe and then Armstrong for a quality score! His dummy for the I'Anson try in the first half was also sublime.

Gorski was unlucky for Batley's 3rd try, but was really good for the rest of the game. A 16-0 second half against a good team, all of the lads deserve credit for that performance. More of the same for next weeks "away" game at Leigh.

Excellent win. Not Batley's best performance of the season by a long way, but still a very noteworthy achievement to keep them scoreless for the second 40 minutes. Its defence that wins games - oldest saying in the book! Special mention to Mike Morrison this week for his first spell where he really took a lot of stopping and was really up for the job, wasn't quite so blockbusting in the 2nd half but even so probably his best performance for Swinton Lions. Mark Smith was the other one to catch my eye - there had been a few basic handling errors before his arrival off the bench and he settled that side of things down nicely, but also put in a great shift of tackling too.

It will be interesting to see if the ex-Leigh contingent can raise their game to make a match of it next week.
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Very well done to the lads today, awesome performance! Have to say at 10-6 up I was getting worried as Batley really seemed to shift into a higher gear, but credit to the lads they dug deep and came out after half time with some of the best defensive work since the 44-0 of whitehaven last year!

Special mention I think for Forster as he was an absolute beast!!! Him and Morrison are looking a real pairing at prop! Hopefully Mills will have seen the light and realised hes going to have to raise his game sevenfold if hes going to get back in the 17!

The usual suspects put in an excellent shift, Higson, the Hawkyards and Cunniffe. Thought Tom Armstrong had a fantastic game as well. Take nothing away from any player though we were excellent 1-17. The only strange moment of the match came when Dodd broke clear then seemed to just throw the ball over his shoulder to nobody!? Not that it matters now though

Thought the referee made some very strange calls, however he seemed consistently strange for both sides. Great weather, great game and what a great atmosphere today!!! As someone else mentioned, iv also not enjoyed a game like that for what seems like too long!
Im only smiling because `no-one`'s found the bodies yet.

Well done on your victory today, good to see teams who are promoted pick up points against teams who are already established in the division

Brilliant, Brilliant, Bbrilliant!! We were awesome! Best game I've seen in ages!!
Everyone played their hearts out. There should have been a 'MOM' for each one.
I really didn't expect this result and thought Batley were a very good side too.
Thanks to both teams for 2 hours of brilliance.
Hope we carry on in the same way on Friday. Can't wait!!!!

Phill, totally and absolutely agree with this statement. That's one of the main reasons the Lions were so great during the '60s. Good attacking play built on the solid foundations of a great and resolute defence.

Have to say Alex Walmsley was a beast for Batley - he was playing in the amateur game until very recently and looked every inch a Super League player in the making - proof talent is out there.

Great win lads. If only Featherstone had won by 1 more point as that stuffed my handicap triple. I Had Fev @ -12, Keighley @ -16, and Lions @ +16 with Ladbrokes

Totally agree, Forster impressed me greatly. Batley had a big pack and the team tackled them out of the game - looks like things ae coming together nicely.............the team worked hard for each other and apart from some dubious penalties against them ( for ball stealing) the discipline was good.

I can't wait for Friday..........:)

Great game and even better win, big well done to SM for turning the lads around, that's what you get with a top coach.

I think weve got to be under no illusions, just because we performed well in a game is no reason to think its all up from here, we need to maintain this level of performance and also realise that aside from there big, mobile pack, batley rarely stretched our line. However, in terms of effort and commitment weve definitely set our benchmark, lets hope we can keep it up!!!
