and in my opinion thats wrong. if u work for an employer they have to pay ,they have to take out insurance for each and everyone the company decides to employ, why should clubs be allowed not to get insurance, especially when carrying out thier duties, ive long been an advocated insurance is a first priority for any players well being ,if a long term injury happens and the player cant work for his club or his employer away from the game ,the player is the one to suffer , nevr mind a family and mortgage , so the club should be held responsible for players safety and well being. So far as im aware its up to the players to provide individual insurence- like at most clubs. However i could be wrong.I,ll match FF,s offer for Grimmer to have a private op asap thats 500 pledged, anyone else, however small/large?

Barry thats all well and good but in a massive contact sport like RL can you imagine the cost to a non SL club to provide insurence. Its already tough enough to survive in the Championships as it is but the added premiums of injury insureance would be the final straw imo.

i agree steve and i know where ur coming from, that doesnt take away the clubs responsibilty to take good care of its players , if the club had a look around some of these comparison sites im sure a deal could be reached to insure en bloc dont know if grimmer has private protection or not, suppose if he had he would of been dealt with by now ,how long can u mamage without his services,so club insurance in my opinion is a must ? .Barry thats all well and good but in a massive contact sport like RL can you imagine the cost to a non SL club to provide insurence. Its already tough enough to survive in the Championships as it is but the added premiums of injury insureance would be the final straw imo.

how much has Keighley squad cost compared to Hunslet? Whilst it seems like you didnt play well you also need to sadly understand Hunslet are the club with the lowest wage budget and cant just go out and get 3 or 4 SL experienced players like Keighley have done. You will still be here next year and least you are not in debt like Bradford Bulls!
Well said

right lads this is how it is.Grimmer,s op is gonna be 3k me and frisky filly have pledged 500 so we need to raise another 2.5k , with this sorted he would be back fairly quickly if not, waiting for the NHS it could be god knows how long.We all know how many points he made last season and i think yesterday showed how much we need him back asap.If Bradford can raise 190k in a week then surely we can get Grimmer his op, lets get it sorted.

As he played/playing for the both the Hawks an the Knights, you should do a bucket collection this Sunday! Give both sets of fans a chance to contribute.

Which means you knew what you were signing, injury included.
Bet if you bought a car that had no MOT and it cost you a grand to get it through, you would go back to the bloke who sold you it and ask him for the money.
Ridiculous comment brassylad

yes it is a ridiculous comment, but it was meant to be.....well spotted though!
the supporters didnt know he was injured when he signed so i think its a bit of a cheek asking them to raise the cash for the operation..but thats upto each individual supporter to determine where they want to put their money...mines staying in my pocket on this one...

Am I missing something here!! It's got nothing to do with grimmer or the club or fev for that matter. It was just a couple of fans willing to chip in towards getting grimmer his op done quicker than waiting for nhs op. if some fans can afford it then I think it's a great gesture and it shouldn't be shot down

you forgot to ask -- how many employed fans would be prepared to contribute..
At present on these pages both k.o.l and myself have pledged £250 -- we are not asking that amount from everyone. Any contributions between £5 and £5,000 would be welcome.

frisky i think yours and Steve,s pledge is a wonderful gesture but if it is going to cause a rift between supporters then i for one feel it would be best if you let it take its course Danny got a cancellation yesterday for his scan so he will have it on the 12th and not the 28th but he rings every day hoping to get one sooner its a sporting injury and could have happened anytime so blaming one or the other doesn't really help. However i can assure you both he is quiet humbled by the regard shown to him by the loyal supporters of Hunslet .

My concern with this is what happens when another player gets injured requiring surgery? Will there be a whip round then? Is there a potential team spirit issue if 1 unique/ superstar player gets his op payed for by the supporters and not everyone else? Also its a big burden on the player regarding the possibility of leaving the club for a bigger team knowing this money has been spent? I'm not shooting anything down before anyone jumps to glimmers defence just a few points to debate....

I'd be willing to contribute but it wouldn't be £250 I'm afraid
