I would like to warn any away fans thinking o going to dwsbury to make sure you go in the standing area if you can. The abuse and bad language towards opposition players and match officials in the so called main stand where there are a lot of kids was sttroocious and a disgrace to your club. Your fans should hold their heads in shame. and your stewards seem more interested in jobsworth tasks like stopping people going round the back of the sticks (for "health and safety reasons) and near the dugouts than actually dealing with anything even when a complaint is made to them. Your club should hang their heads in shame and kick out these loud mouth yobs.

There seems to be someone posting about moaning, bad mouthing etc every week these days. As with previuos weeks I can only say that where I was in the South Stand it was absolutely fine and both sets of speccies were just cheering their own team and slagging the ref from time to time. All good innocent fun and what its all about.
I suspect that all teams have one or two people that upset others and I wont be the only one who has suffered a bot of abuse at POR.

Ben. You've been to post office road. You know the drill. Can you honestly say there's never been any complaints made about our lot at Post Office Road?????
I honestly think if you have a complaint of this nature it's best to put it directly to the club itself. Of course it's your call but I can't see any positives by making these types of allegations on a public message board that is only likely to result in a reciprocal accusation!
For what it's worth, me and our Ellie spent the afternoon with the Lagoon crew. We went to Hanging Heaton WMC and had a bloody great time. Then down to the stadium just after 2pm and had another great laugh. Some good craic throughout the game and went home having had a cracking afternoon and a good game.
For me, it was rugby like it ought to be.

I think Ben needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

If you think the best way of addressing this alleged behaviour is to post a vitriolic dig on the forums then i suggest you troll off.

As for the Stewards "jobsworth" attitude to stopping people walking beehind the sticks, we have already suffered a significant financial blow at the hands of a so-called rugby league supporter who chose to ignore all
warnings and instructions and sued the club when he was too stupid to let go of his pie and save himself from slipping on the banking.

We all want access to the banking during the warmer weather but until the council see fit to allow this, we have to abide by (and enforce) the policy.

I have to agree with him about policing the dugout area though. I can't understand why you should have to go up the steps and round the back to get to your chosen end, (I prefer to sit at the end to which the rams are attacking) except when the players are using the tunnel. Might be OK for me, but those with ageing joints might find it an inconvenience. Also really can't see why there is a problem with fans wishing to cross from one side to the other in decent weather, as long as they stick to the fence, avoid the banking and don't dawdle - stick up a disclaimer notice if necessary. As for the language - yeah I've heard it, usually from the same individuals (in front of their own kids, but I've yet to go to a ground that didn't have that element, and I've yet to see any individual thrown out of any ground by stewards for abusive language. In fact at one game, a couple of seasons ago, following the usual announcement about the consequences of such behaviour, one away fan with a voice like a foghorn expressed his contempt with a tirade that would have made a squaddie blush - everybody with half decent hearing, including the stewards heard it, and they chose to develop selective deafness.

I have been watching the Rams for 10 plus years in the seated stand without any problem. If it was really as bad as you say you should either move and/or report to a steward. Posting some unspecified complaint after the event is pointless.

i would move but u cant because of jobsworths interfering and not being able to move to side of ground where fev fans were. Why not have a narrow path behind sticks with most of grass banking roped off to stop people to get to dangerous bits. would make more sense! I did speak to a steward but he just ignored me.

so once again you completely ignore the fact that it is not permitted to use the area behind the sticks to justify your argument.
I also understand that the RFL issue the directive about access past the dugouts during a game.

Reporting an issue to a steward and then being ignored is another thing all together and im pretty sure you are perfectly entitled to complain formally via the club.

When you look at sporting events across the world (Rugby, cricket), and even in this country (Henman Hill although that is outside Wimbledon)people sit and stand on grass banks. It needs the government to interfere and change the law so as long as there are warning signs up advising of a slip hazard, anyone who falls can't sue the club unless there is clear negligence. I wanted to stand behind the sticks but Dewsbury don't really have a choice in this current climate of blame/claim culture but i agree a suitable walking path would be a good idea as a stop gap.

Good job your lot will never get to Wembley again or you'd be demanding to change ends there too!

Stewards ignoring blatant misbehaviour like the OP reported is clearly unacceptable and, unfortunately all too common at many grounds. Changing sides at Dewsbury is plainly not permitted as the large signs posted at the turnstiles makes abundantly clear. Ignorance is no excuse I'm afraid.
Believe what you see, don't see what you believe.

All this came about because of a Widnes fan, that has been stated before. I was at the game a couple of season ago and saw the overweight guy, wearing flip-flops, fall down the bank with his burger. This event led to major compensation being paid because of the 'where there is blame, there is a claim' culture.

The club cannot afford such pay-outs and so closed the areas behind the sticks. Even if signs were put up saying 'use the banks at your own risk' this doesn't really cover the club and legal action could still be taken.

Yes the area could be levelled out or made safe in some way, but this is more money to lay out for the club. Money is tight at the moment and for small clubs such as Dewsbury.

Closing the banks is the sensible option at present.

and that's how it should be John. Vitriolic criticism of other clubs on public fora can have a financial impacts on our clubs that we can ill afford. It's not like our own club has been blameless on this type of behaviour is it? Yet we defend our club to the nth degree when we read similar criticisms!!

if we put a path behind the sticks all it would do is encourage cheapskates to pay in the southstand and then walk round to a seat, unless we have a steward charging the extra quid entry

Ben, oh deary me as a steward yourself at Fev, you should know all about the health & safety regulations etc, also I do know that you have heard foul & abusive language at our ground before. Where was a steward at Fev when I wanted one after witnessing a incident, oh yes I remember, I could not find one till much later on. So before casting aspersions, think about it first.
Apologies to you on here, I just despair at times

I must admit that I don't like the boorish atmosphere at Rams Stadium, which is in sharp contrast to that created by the good natured fans that used to stand out in all weather at Crown Flatts. I had assumed that said behaviour was just a feature of the local derby. Am I wrong?

Wouldn't it be just the same as when we were allowed to stand and sit behind the sticks?

Thanks to the hospitality of all the Dewsbury fans I talked to yesterday. I always enjoy a visit to the Tetleys and although I'm a 'behind the sticks - change ends man' at home I'll accept the rules of the home club when away. A good afternoon.

It's rubbish that we can't stand behind the sticks but can understand why the club won't allow it. Hopefully it will be sorted in the short/ medium term.

Not sure why the Fev fan is moaning, they also have a fair selection of idiots, that I'm sure he wouldn't want us to mention.

POR is probably my fav ground to visit. One of the few traditional grounds left on the RL circuit. Their supporters are generally a fair and honest mob - I genuinely hope they turn cas over and none of their idiots play up.
