Where do Oldham RLFC stand should they finish in the top 4 this season ?
Will the ground need developing to allow the club to be promoted ?

My guess would be that Oldham Athletic Football team would allow them to use Boundary Park again if they needed to.
However, I wouldn't mind if we decided to renovate Whitebank, it's just hard to see that happening, money issues and all that.

Should !??? You mean when! Apparently a 5 yr plan has been accepted by the rfl. But if you look at it,if there are issues we''ll just do what we've done for years and that is use a temperory home till the ground is up to scratch. I mean look at swinton. At least We've got a patch we can call home. They've got nothing at the moment. So us being promoted is not a problem.

I doubt after the way we were treated by Latics that going back there is viable or wanted by ORLFC. Also financially it is a bad move as they take all the off field income (catering, beer etc)and charge us to play there.

Staying at Whitebank is presently the most viable plan, yes it does need work in order to meet Championship requirements. The club doesn't tend to divulge what its plans are until something is in place, let's hope things are progressing well behind the scenes.

When we first took it over CH did talk about grants being available, which he was talking to the RL about, which would assist - lets hope these discussions are being advanced now that we have full control of the stadium, and hope for some good news in the near future.

COME ON OLDHAM!!!! COME ON OLDHAM!!!!!

Good luck with that - it would be great to Swinton back in a home of their own. As Oldham fans we know better than anyone how tough life is on the road.

And that didn't stop you getting promoted. Whoever is worried about finishing in 5th place behind us will no doubt bring up the ground issue again and again and again......

Exactly. The rugby comes first and let those involved in the ground developments sort it all out. If at the end it goes wrong because of the stadia, then complain. But at this moment, let the rugby do the talking!

And that didn't stop you getting promoted.

I think the promotion was on the proviso a suitable stadium was available to play in mate ? So even tho they didnt have a home of their own LSV was made available and met RFL criteria

But thats where the problem lies. No problem with a team getting promoted and playing at a stadia in a rough vicinity of where they are based but come on, Swinton at Leigh????? I have no axe to grind with Swinton, but it's like Oldham getting promoted and saying its ok as we will be playing at the Galpharm.

If I remember right, and no doubt you can correct me, Leigh S V was decided upon after the end of last season once it was clear that agecroft was a none starter, for this season at least!? Well we haven't got anywhere near the end of this season and we have a lot more in place than Swinton have even now. If the wembley of the north, sorry Whitebank , isn't ready in time then we will go somewhere else till it is. Simples.

Oldham have played home games at Leigh, in fact we have played them at Blackpool. Pot, Kettle and Black springs to mind.

Not for a full season though. In fact the way things are going Swinton may be there a bit longer.

Yes I am aware that we had a nomadic existance but we did try and keep as close to 'home' as possible. However, even in the most hardest of times it wasn#t for a full season though, and it looks like that will continue to next year as well.

Be careful what you criticise, don't suppose you'll be complaining when we get promoted and have to play at Leigh again ourselves!!

Oldham to Rochdale (6 miles), Oldham to Leigh (24 miles), Oldham to Blackpool (56 miles), Swinton to Leigh (11 miles)......the same distance from Oldham to Sedgley Park!!!!!!!

Oldham to Rochdale (6 miles), Oldham to Leigh (24 miles), Oldham to Blackpool (56 miles), Swinton to Leigh (11 miles)

Plus its 11 miles without stopping virtually. there in five minutes. We have managed for twenty plus years wandering around the north west. I remember Oldhams times at Ashton. That was hardly handy!
All our clubs struggle its time to stick together not bite each others backs. Well said Sheddings69.
