As a club then should we, from July, celebratete our 40th year since reforming and give the intent that we'll be here in another 40? Maybe we could get the YEP to do a double spread on us. Could we have a celebration game inviting our players since 1973 and make a big point of thanking Geoff Gunney? Celebration dinner? Just planting a seed of thought here

Nothing in particular but it's a milestone and an opportunity. What's special about 60 years but we are getting a day off for it this year?

Even if we are celebrating, surely we need to wait until the 40 year mark actually comes round, which still well over a year away yet, in July 2013. Unless a particularly long lead time is required to organise them ...

Back to the point of the thread i think its something we should embrace, we have a great history and should celebrate it when possible, il raise this with HIST and the club to see if we can recognise the day, lets be honest if we didn't have that day we wouldn't have a team to support and its a great chance to get Geoff Gunney back involved with the club, a legend like himself, should never have been let to walk away due to the clubs mismanagement, so its time to get him back on board, as he is Mr Hunslet!

In what year were Hunslet formed? I know that York R.L.F.C. were formed in 1868 so in 6 years the club will be 150 years old in one form or another, wont Hunslet be about the same age?.

YOU mean you haven't made GEOFF GUNNEY a life member yet ?
Still don't get the debate about 40 years, in 10 years time -- 50 years yes..
Don't know why CELTIC have become involved apart from Robbo, and Blackpools interest, the only connection Hunslet have with Celtic is that one season at the Greyhound stadium we played in Celtics traditional strip..
For those avid readers wanting to know when Hunslet was formed you will find the history of Hunslet is on the clubs website.

There is no debate. So you didn't celebrate your 40th? Why wait another 10 years? We need to use what we can to celebrate us being here

Weve got more important things to attend to first, like the clubs survival, once its future is secure, im sure Geoff Gunney will be given the honour he deserves which is Life Membership of Hunslet Hawks RLFC.
Question for Frisky, why didn't you mate Grahame make him a life member?

As Presedent of the club why don't you ask him ?-- don't think the club have made any life members since 1974..--- as a HIST COMMITTEE member you should know if the club has any life members from tickets/ passes on match days.
