I seriously fear for these three having to sit next to Jonathan Davies/Iestyn Harris for the next forty minutes.

I've just been eyeing up the sharp knives myself after hearing Davies doing the 'simple, simple defence' routine at half-time.

I must admit, the whole tone of the show is way down on when Clare Balding is presenting.

He was referring to the fact that the the first VT clip played during the sequence was showing a high kick, rather than a 40-20 attempt as the on-screen graphic described it.

He was admonishing whoever included the incorrect clip - not saying he didn't know what a 40-20 was.

Mark "Chappers" Chapman is quite good I think, does seem to genuinely like RL as well.

The problem with this spectacle isn't the presentation but the huge gulf in class between the 2 sides, which made it a bit of a damp squib even before KO.

Mark Chapman is a fan of the game, not as enthusiastic as Ms Balding granted but when he used to be on Radio 1 he'd often big RL up on air.

Just to be clear, he was the original BBC presenter of Rugby League Raw after it transferred from Yorkshire Television.

Not seen the programme yet but surely Chappers must be better than Steve Ryder.

Chapman was okay, which was a relief. Could be worse. Or a lot lot worse, i.e. Inverdull.

We'll have to get used to him, seeing as Clare's off to the horse racing channel as soon as the CC is finished.

I thought the whole commentary was dull, this is our free to air national shopwindow, I cannot see many new fans being attracted to our sport by this.
When Robbie HP was interviewed by Tanya'the fox'Arnold at half time his every word was drowned out which is a pity as these two are IMO key assets in the post Ray French & Claire Balding world of BBC RL coverage.

Iestyn Harris is far too dull to be a colour commentator. As someone who doesn't have an especially large knowledge of the game, I'd have to say that I much prefer the hyperbolic Sky coverage.
