I can remember a few high scores but not in succession.

noticed that nowadays big scores are commonplace in Rugby League. Whilst I'm all for entertainment at matches, tries being scored etc etc, does anyone think that things have gone a bit too far and that scores of fifty points plus occur too often ? I'm not calling for something similar to the other oval ball game where games often end with scores like 12-3 and all the points coming from the boot, bt maybe a bit of moderation is necessary, change the rules so that scoring a try takes a bit more "effort" ? Tries don't necessarily mean entertainment and my hope is that the game doesn't get as tedious as say basketball or handball. In the past I've seen some riproaring low-scoring games as well; indeed I can remember one Challenge Cup semi-final where it went to a replay after the first game ended 0-0, and the game was a bloody good one as well (I think that Hull FC might have been one of the sides involved).
Just a thought, trying to inspire a bit of a debate without trolling. Anyone have any opinions on this ?

It should have been 60 in consecutive games if the fancy boys had not tried to be flash.....Tubbs should rip into them.....Even when we are winning still do the basic moves......The fans are with you all the way, we don't need slight of hand stuff.......
Challenge Cup Games
[2012 - Oulton 8 Eagles 58; York 12 Eagles 50]
- 1998 Challenge Cup, 2 consecutive scores greater than 50; and consecutive games!
- The first game was v Leigh on 15th Feb 1998 at Hilton Park when the score was Leigh 11 Sheffield 66. The following match was at DVS against Egremont Rangers and the score was Shefield 84 Egremont 6.
- Sheffield have scored 50 or more points in 2 consecutive matches on one previous occasion. This was in 2004 [all National League 2 Matches]when Sheffield beat Gateshead 54 points to 10 on 1st August, at DVS then beat Dewsbury, at Dewsbury, by 51 points to 10 on 8th August followed by a another win at DVS against Hunslet by 50 points to 10.
with regards to allezredstar I am a great believer that tries should be credited with league points bonuses, as I carefully and biting my tongue compare to that other code. A point bonus for each 3 tries, for example scored, winning or losing side to benefit equally, and a win still 3 pts, draw 2, loss less than 10(instead of 12)= 1. A drop goal is far more skillful than 1 point, so 4 for a try, 2 for conversion, 3 for drop goal, 2 for penalty goal............. a thought I've had for years. New score: Eagles score(9 tries 7 goals- 60) Featherstone (7 tries 6 goals-40) So Eagles v Featherstone league points would equal: Eagles 3 + 3 bonus, Rovers 2 bonus. Then rewards for effort come in..............
Over to you !!
