According to the report Wayne Bennett (or should that be the club) has put in a cut price offer for Mason - about $40,000 and match payments.
Bennett must be desperate to reinforce his forwards if he brings predictably unpredictable Mason back into the game.

Master stroke or mistake?

Another report headline:

"Willie Mason's manager, Newcastle Knights deny speculation linking the forward to the club
It was suggested the controversial former Test forward only needs to pass a medical test on Tuesday - but that's been denied by the club and Mason's manager, Sam Ayoub."

Odd signing.

If Bennett can't set him straight and get something useful out of him, he's pretty much finished professionally.

Not impressed seeing Bennett briefing his players in dressing room at half time. Of course we can't hear what's said but it looks less than dynamic. It might be very analytical and thought provoking - might - but it doesn't look as though it would rouse even the lightest of sleepers.

It can't have been worse that Brian McClennan addressing the Warriors players at half time (Roosters game). Not one of them looked interested or could even lift their heads, just all stared at their boots and he didn't appear to be shouting.
