Strange London lent Bolger to us just before we played them in the cup, and then took him back to play against us. Of course I am certain that he wouldn't have passed on details of our plays and playing strengths to the London coach, but a cynic (like say, BSJ) might not be as trusting as myself.I think duel-reg is becomng something of a joke in our game,we have Ben Bolger for just one game and off he goes back to the Broncos,we have'nt even seen the lad from Cas play for us,don't get me wrong,i'm happy we have Hood from Leeds for a few games, but how many of the games will he play fo us? Can't we have loan deals come back in our game,so we know how long we have them for,be it for a month or two or a season's loan with some players.

A cunning ploy to discover Warren's secret moves and tactics? I must say I hadn't thought of that, but now it makes sense.
On a serious note the whole dual registration system is a nonsense and I am surprised that some CC clubs still go along with it, including ours. The scheme was the brainchild of Garry Hetherington (which should start the alarm bells ringing for a start) and, in my view, is designed to give all of the advantages to the SL club and virtually none to the CC club. The cause of the system was the increased limitations being applied to second teams within the SL, reducing the opportunities for coaches to give some players game time outside of the first team. The ideal scenario, therefore, would be for them to get game time with a CC club instead.
ALL of the cards are in the hands of the SL club: they can recall a player at any time with no notice, they can prevent a player from playing at certain times, they often require the player to train with them allowing little contact with the CC squad. Mid-term or long-term loans are preferable but often unattainable so, at times, dual-reg is the only game in town.
In the (very) old days you simply got on with it if you had injuries and used the squad you had. If, as now, coaches often say that such and such a player isn't yet up to 1st team standard, then why was he signed in the first instance?
In extremis you could persuade a recently retired player to give it just one more go - Mick Murphy anyone?

Agreed !
Some SL clubs do play the game a little more than others though. Wigan, saints and wolves seem to treat their loan clubs better than most. Leigh in particular have in the past benefited quite nicely from their loanees. Maybe sending young lads off to Warrens boot camp is less appealing to SL clubs (and players) than sending them to a fashionable championship club at a nice shiny stadium.
As previous posters have said,it's time the RL put it's foot down, allowed the SL under 20's to have a reasonable number of over age players and reverted to a loan system for championship clubs whereby a minimum of one months notice is required to withdraw players from championship clubs. Incidentally, as Shaun Lunt is reportedly on loan to Leeds, will Huddersfield be allowed to recall him at the drop of a hat?
