Take a look at this web page , Coventry Bears who will be in Champ 1 next season ..... Look at their ground ...... and compare it to Oldham's. In fact compare it to Oldham Athletic's. This club has only been playing for 14 years. Look also at the teams they run. They may not have 100 years of roots but they have enthusiasm by the bucket load. Not a women's team to be seen in Oldham as far as I know after over 100 years .... but there's one in Coventry. They obviously have a very enthusiastic GO AHEAD committee.

To be fair with regards to the ground, they are only renting. They are lucky to have such a facility on the doorstep.Take a look at this web page , Coventry Bears who will be in Champ 1 next season ..... Look at their ground ...... and compare it to Oldham's. They do have an excellent website, which some might dismiss as 'fluff' but it is a shop window for sponsors and fans. It projects an excellent image when done right (also can project an amateur feel when done wrong).
As regards to not having 100 years of roots, RL was played in Coventry at the turn of the century... but had a slight gap of about 90 years before the Bears launched. They do have a great committee and enthusiastic volunteers. Will be interesting to see if they get in CH1 and if they separate the club into Pro and amateur sections. The junior teams in the Midlands are producing good players that are already being snapped up by heartland teams. Big question is how the Bears manage the 'gap' between the talented kids growing into CH1 players and where they are now.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Its already been said that they are playing out of The Football club ground .... and owned by the football club .... Wheras Hemel Stags , as far I i know own their own ground and Social Club ......... In response to "Bedford Roughyed" ....Oldham dont own their own ground either and I would suggest that 95% of the PRO clubs ( Leeds spring to mind ) ,even after 100 years of existance, so it seems that these "NEW" Southern teams are not much behind ( if anything at all ) than the supposed heartland teams in a lot of ways, and in others are better off , particularly oldham , except of course for local Amateur teams supplying players , Sorry forgot that the Oldham lads end up at all the other clubs in the league , not to mention Bath Rah Rah

There's another 2 amateur clubs in Coventry as well. Not sure if we'll get into Championship 1.
