Well GF started, but perhaps he is an impact player after all ? What else can one add about today ? Probably our worst league performance, but we won. Shocking first half, but Hunslets lack of ideas let us off the hook. Thought Austin, Faal and craven won us the game. The last try was outstanding. Will need to improve for Keighley by the looks of it.

Our weakness in the pack was almost our undoing today, and will surely catch up with us soon. GF had an OK game but missed tackles from a hooker aren't acceptable; Hood certainly made a difference when he came on but both are really impact players at present. Some credit should go to Hunslet whose first half defensive performance was excellent.
Too many players had off days today, including Austin I'd have to say, so we'll just have to put it down to "one of those days". At least we won, which is a good start point.
Patch had a decent game but how Crossley didn't win MoM is beyond me: he had a full 40 mins in the first half getting through loads of work and after a rest was our outstanding player in the second half, causing the Hunslet defence problems time after time.
The Keighley game will certainly tell us just how good we are and could be the first of six straight losses unless we cause an upset somewhere along the way. This season at least we have some points on the board early on to aid morale.

agree totally, what does Steve Crossley have to do to win the mom, the bloke is a machine
All I can assume is the man of the match award must be written in to Pat Walker`s contract payments

Terrible performance from start to finish.
We do not get better game on game, we get worse if anything. And we certainly don't get better year on year.
Yes we won, but i felt depressed after the game.
If we do not improve a great deal we will get thrashed by Keighley.
I really do not know what goes on in 'training'.
I am banging my head against a brick wall with many fans.

Not sure I can agree on Steve crossley for MoM. I thought he was outstanding in second half when Hunlset started to tire (full marks on his fitness), but I thought they had the measure of him in the first half. Perhaps Wlaker won MOm because he was he that put the kick in for Cravens try, started the move that let to Austins try and probably topped the tackle count? I would have given it to Craven yesterday. Thought he was threat throughout, looked good in defence and scored the disallowed try in the corner when our friend Mr Hewer got it wrong.agree totally, what does Steve Crossley have to do to win the mom, the bloke is a machine

Might it be Nick that his constantly driving the ball into those players who "had the measure of him" was why they started to tire in the second half? I offer this really as a response to those fans who constantly want us to try something different, even in the early part of the game, but fail to understand that a part of the tactic is to tire out your opponents during the course of the game and, hence, get the opportunities to score later on. This is one reason why such as Flanagan may benefit more from being brought on as an impact player rather than starting the game.

What was it that Maurice Bamford used to say, theres them that play the piano, and them that carry the piano
for the former to perform you deffinately need the latter
It is just my personal opinion but Steve Crossley was outstanding in a mediocre performance yesterday

It might well be that you have got this one spot on BSJ. Certainly others have commented on this and I am not disputing Steve's contribution. He's certainly the best prop we have had for a while. However I believe that others constantly undervalue Pat Walkers contribution. We all agree he's not the most attractive stand off, but ( perhaps because our props are playing well), he is doing a pretty good job. On your point of trying something different in the early part of the game I would remind you of the games against Swinton and York where throwing the ball around early doors set us with two early tries and good wins. Fev had the measure of this and it maybe that videos have been watched, but as a tactic it worked well and maybe this was down to WJ. There I've said it. On a separate point this sudden drop in form is worrying. As you mentioned earlier this season is starting to resemble the one where we beat Hunslets at their place, thrashed Toulouse at home and then it all went down hill. Not sure what the solution is, but let's hope there is one.Might it be Nick that his constantly driving the ball into those players who "had the measure of him" was why they started to tire in the second half? Well we won and that was the most important thing. The game against Keighley will show how good we are as they have assmbled a strong squad. Then its 5 games against the likely top four clubs so maybe a bonus point or two from that.
A win against Keighley will give us some confidence.
