Walney 'A' 12 v Ulverston 'A' 22 (ht 8-0)
A strong Ulverston side won a fiery knockout cup final 22-12 in which there were 4 sin binnings and 1 sending off. Walney deservedly went in leading 8-0 at half time but some lacklustre tackling in the second half allowed Ulverston back into the game, they sealed victory with a converted try in the dying seconds.

I watched Ulverston 1st team Saturday and 8 players that played in the final playing for the first team, SHOCKING, DISGRACEFUL, this needs adressing for next season or the B&D WILL BECOME A LAUGHING STOCK, the reward for the young Walney A team for playing so well this season was this final and i feel they have been kicked in the teeth i just hope Millom stuff it up Ulverston next week. RANT OVER.

Hendy, If you had walked down the touchline you would have spotted no less than 7 injured 1st teamers watching from the sidelines.
I guess promoting from A team to 1st team isn't allowed anymore?
To put it plainly, Ulverstons team on Saturday was made up of 1st teamers AND A TEAMERS DUE TO INJURIES. Isn't that what the A team is for ?
The fact Ulverstons 1st team was made up of promoted A teamers & a large number of Under 18's is good for the game and should be applauded and shows that ALL players have a chance of 1st team rugby. Ok, players got their chancee due to injuries/unavailability, but im sure that as players return from injury they will have to earn their shirt back.
With the B&D remaining in winter this argument will rear its head after every game next season. Especially with those who have chosen to remain in the NWC winter league needing to field 2 teams at the same time. I personally can't see the summer teams players playing much during the winter B&D season but how much better would the B&D be without cancellations and hard competative games next season?

The same thing happens every year,Walney and Ulverston both do it. Ulverston did the same last week against Millom they also did it last year against Millom but so did Walney.I know on here people have said Millom have played 1st teamers this year in the league but we havent its easyer to get your A team out when none are being called up to the 1st team.
Is the B&D staying winter? What do the players want? Id rather play summer. Is there going to be a vote on it.

All clubs use first team players for time to time (some more than others), this could be due to lack of A team players or the fact that a club is hell bent on winning and want to strengthen their A team with first team players.
I can honestly say that at Walney over the past 5 season since I have been back involved with Walney A team we only ever used first team players when we are struggling for a side or to give lads that are sitting on the bench for the first team a full 80 minutes in the A team.
This season we have been very fortunate because we have had very good numbers for the A team each week and only had to use first teamers in a very small number of games.
It's been a strange season in some respects because Millom, Askam and Ulverston first teams haven't played for approx 3 months when the A team have been playing, so classing players as first teamers is not straight forward but in saying that we all know that some players that have played in either Askam, Millom or Ulverston A teams will be regularly playing first team over the summer season.
From our point of view at Walney we want a competitive B&D league but not against sides playing half a dozen first teamers. At Ulverston you sound like you have been very very unlucky with injuries to already have seven first team players injured already, I can only suspect these are long term injuries.
Ulverston did appear to have a few young lads playing on Friday night although I didnt see any u-18's marked on the team for your side.
With respect to the B&D league my own personnel view is that it needs to switch to summer to support the first teams, even though personally I don't want to play in the summer.

We Had alot of players missing for first team sat so had to call on alot of a team lads to double up
We had missing
Reekys- wedding
Phil ,andy , Eddie, Mj, butch, matty Potsy all injuried
Grega now works away
Toaly plays for barrow now
Jima has gone to millom now
So our side has totally changed from last season so alot of the young lads who have played ateam all year will now have to start playing First team
