Firstly to say, Sunday was all about a win so lets be positive and look forward to the challenges ahead.
Secondly, I'm not sure if many of you live in and around Shaw Cross/Hanging Heaton but unless you have been living on another planet you will know its election time soon. The posters give that away.
I received a flyer from Councillor Paul Kane, stating that he will oppose the clubs development proposals!!! This is a worrying statement and wondered if anyone at the club had seen it or fellow supporters?
If we cannot rely on the support of our local Councillors what are the clubs chances when its put before non Dewsbury based Councillors in Huddersfield?
I know Councillor Eric Firth comes to watch the matches, has he said anything publically?

Just another BS promise from someone hoping to lap up a few extra voters i suspect.
Hardly worth anybody's vote if this is his campaign strategy.

I think we all know why the good councillor is against it - like all true socialists, he's a nimby. Bet he's not opposing the LDF with regards to thornhill lees. Quite personally I can't see why he would prefer to overlook a dogsh@ ridden dumping ground rather than the landscaped parkland promised by the developers, but it seems he does.Just another BS promise from someone hoping to lap up a few extra voters i suspect.

He told a Dewsbury fan whilst out touting for votes, that he wasn't against it but wanted to know where the 1.2 million was which had been paid to the club.
He lives off Bywell Road near my mum has probably been dragged in by the bullying. NIMBYs around there. My mum says she would feel safer with people living behind her instead of the wasteland what's there.

If he's not agin it, then why publicly advertise his opposition in his advertising material - surely he's not a hypocrite ?He told a Dewsbury fan whilst out touting for votes, that he wasn't against it but wanted to know where the 1.2 million was which had been paid to the club.

I'm guessing the club can't respond as appreciate it has to remain politically neutral. Some of the comments are worrying though.
Shame we can't let the 2000 who signed the petition know his view pre election rather than waiting until its too late when the planning application goes before the Council in the summer.
Guess a letter to paper may work but imagine they won't be printing stuff like this so close to the election.

Goodness, a politician at election time touting for votes. How despicable.
Perhaps this chap sees which way the wind is blowing and reckons he'll get more votes by siding with local residents against the proposals than supporting the club. After all, I guess most of those signing your petition won't be able to vote for (or against) him.
At the end of the day it's the Councillors on the Planning Committee that you need to be lobbying, and before that the Planning Officers who will be making their recommendation (one way or the other) to the committee.

A good point. I personally know more Dewsbury supporters who, like me, aren't in a position to vote in that ward, than those who are. It's a sign of the times when the man can decide that there are more votes to gain by siding with the protestors than are to be lost from upsetting the Dewsbury fans. I wonder if the MP for Leeds could afford to alienate the Loiners, or a Manchester politician would dare to upset the Stretford End.
I spent a lot of my childhood living just up the road from the the pithead where the ground now is. We spent many a happy afternoon playing on the pit stack, daring each other to run down the sides and building dens out of the spoil. We didn't know it then but we were being happy in a blighted environment, and now the scoundrels want to build some houses and things to create another eyesore for the poor residents of Bywell and its environs. How sorry I am. If those who opposed change had held sway in the past they would still be looking at a slag heap. Get real, change happens and it isn't always for the worse.

he tells porkies and did at school too
He sounds like an ideal candidate. The most important qualification for an aspiring politician is a fluency in prevarication.

One look at the idiot shows he is not a sportsman and has probably never seen or experienced it's benefit.
The problem is this muppet is on just about every planning/are committee going. Simple answer is to recognise Labour yet again being out of touch with local populous, however the alternative parties are no different.
Just another jumped up pleb looking to get on the gravy train and nodding in agreement with anyone who might put him there.
Can I suggest those who are able to - Attend en mass his next surgery -
Friday 4 May, 6.00 - 7.00 pm
Dewsbury Town Hall
Wakefield Old Road, Dewsbury, WF12 8DG
Or get in touch:
Address 20 Bywell Close Dewsbury WF12 7LW
Telephone 01924 456130
Email paul.kane@kirklees.gov.uk
If he has reasons for genuine opposition, perhaps he might like to see genuine support.

Paul Kane as recently published the included leaflet publicly objecting to the Rams proposals as part of his election campaign. Strangely I recently contacted him for his views on the development and his reply was a total avoidance of the subject. So I urge everybody in his ward to vote for the other guy.
copies of his leaflet can be found at the below web links.

Not really surprise about Kane been against the planning.I e-mailed his office few weeks ago asking if he was supporting the plans, his reply wasn't positive .Lets just hope he doesn't win tomorrow, please don't vote for him who lives in that area.Still can't understand why people living in Dewsbury can't been positive and support the club

Thanks for posting the leaflet. I hadn't received it and makes for interesting reading.
I find some of the wording disturbing. Firstly he appears to be implying that because a senior club member is helping to deliver leaflets for the Conservatives, that he is up to no good? From speaking to friends and neighbours in that area, there are plenty of people intending to support the Tories tomorrow and its not difficult to see why.
His second implication that the club has not been honest about payments already received is both dangerous and ignorant. You would have thought he would have been in dialogue with the club for a number of years over the development potential if he is all for supporting the town and its growth. Perhaps the fact he lives on Bywell Road has something to do with his objection?
The 'Are you thinking what I'm thinking' has a very sinister tone to it.
I had planned to have a night in tonight with the missis. If anyone knows the Tory candidates telephone number can you post it as I will now lend a hand if needed before tomorrows election!

Can anyone explain why Paul Kane thinks he is entitled to know about Dewsbury's financial dealings with the developers?
