What a dreadful result
(losing 6 -38) - it doesn't augur well for next week or for the season's outcome. The gory details will emerge from those who braved this debacle. The question is where do Hornets go from here? On the basis of this and recent results, both the occupants of Spotland will be in a lower tier next season and for Hornets at least, this could spell disaster.

I should have posted "will the gory details emerge from those fans who braved this debacle?" Perhaps not, it seems.
Surely they will voice their opinions/concerns - they may not change things, but fcs vent them! I've no doubt that the coach will vent his at an appropriate time/place to ensure/hope that we move in the right direction. Next week will be the indicator.

Chris Hough certainly didn't hold back in the bar post game, saying that the pack let themselves get bossed around and that some people should be ashamed in how they played.

That was dire. The Chairman is clueless if he was a proper Chairman he would have insisted that Stanky faced the punters in the bar. Dear oh dear

I can see how it looks but surely like the team, taking responsibilty for the teams performance is a collective effort from the coaching team and i personally didn't mind Houghy giving us an insight.
The coaching staff do not have to come on the mic to talk, but they do and i personally enjoy the insight. Remember Darren Abraham? He was above all interaction with the fans.
Maybe Stanky should send the players up to talk, now that could embarrass a few?
I am sure Stanky was and is as P!*ed off as we/i was during and after the game. What would the speccies in the bar have said should he have come up to the mic and ranted, sworn or got into answering questions from the floor? I am sure the calls for an unproffesional coach would have come up here. Houghy is Stanky right hand man and didnt hide from the opportunity to speak. Why would Stanky want to put himself in a situation while he is clearly annoyed?
Stanky is an emotional guy and that is clear from the comments about his possible fine, and last weeks last half hour comments at Barrow. On both occasions he has said he would rather walk away, whilst i can understand the frustration by both events, i personally dont like that tone. Its defeatest and i feel sends out a wrong message to the small band of fans. But thats just my opinion.
With regards to the team, our pack has lost its aggresion and its clear to me we need a bit of a shake up from 1-13, some players think they have it easy. 2 or 3 have played at a higher level, and when the younger lads flounder, it is upto those lads to get a grip on the pitch, the coaching staff cant do that once they cross the white line. It seems the lads do not adapt quick enough.
1 game doesnt make a season, but the signs are not good. Where have the second half performances from halifax gone? Although Oldham got a bonus point, we bossed them, physically and on the pitch. Again Oldham are a club paying top buck for players, so its clear the lads can match teams should they want to.
Donny away next week, a quick turnaround, so lets put this to bed and get over to the Keepmoat and show this league that what we have been promising it. On paper its the best sqquad Stanky has had since he arrived, 1-13 need to show the fans and staff, why they get a shirt every week.

Good post that Fillipo - lets just hope we can improve
It looks like the players need a lift, there has been a lot of negative press recently re them not performing etc and they can only take so much negativity they need someone to take the pressure off them and allow them to relax and get back to playing and expressing themselves - players are at their best when they feel wanted and valued, it may sound pathetic but thats the way it is as we know there isnt really a great financial benefit from playing the game at this level these days so most of them are in it for the qudos of being a "semi pro"
Going back to the game just after half time when Crook started to take the ball to the line for about ten mins we looked dangerous and I thought we were going to make a comeback but then we went away from it again we look like a team lacking in confidence and without doubt there are certain players who just arnt good enough but i think its unfair for fans to name names as players might read this forum
We might have to look for some new bodies maybe loan players

I wouldn't get too carried away with the Oldham result, it was by far Oldham's worst performance and although Hornets deserved their win, they didn't exactly run away with it.I can see how it looks but surely like the team, taking responsibilty for the teams performance is a collective effort from the coaching team and i personally didn't mind Houghy giving us an insight.

Maybe reading Stanky's comments in the League Express may give a better insight to the problems he, his staff and players are facing?
I have always believed that win lose or draw a coach should speak to the people who pay good money to support the club through thick and thin, but when I spoke to him in the sheds well after everyone else had gone I honestly believe it wasn't in the best interest for him or the club to air his thoughts in public at that time!
Also Phil, great post!

If Oldham are paying more money to players then I am sure that with the move to Whitebank, paying peppercorn rent and all monies spent in the Social Club and inside the ground - the business turnover has increased significantly than when we played at BP. If you have it, then spend it. Yes, the old Inland Revenue joke maybe quipped, but remember, we have paid it back with INTEREST unlike some clubs (I don't mean Hornets).
In addition, out little payday at Saints will go along way to help out cause this season.

Thanks for your insights into the lack of performance from the team. As a diehard in exile it's difficult to judge these matters solely on the scoreline. However, seldom does it lie and certainly not yesterday. Clearly there are issues which need to be resolved quickly before the rot really sets in and we are consigned to the pit that will be the lower division. Anticipation of that nightmare scenario should be motivation enough, both for the team and for the players' pride/reputation. I guess that not a few clubs in our division are going the s.o.bust motivation route in an effort to be promoted - failure of which will make for an interesting scenario cometh the hour of reckoning! Avoid that route. With only 12 matches remaining, time is of the essence to get some results. Let's start again at Donny.

When I proposed that idea re Stanky you came on here beating your chest about how we should do what we want, make your mind up Gavin.
