Swinton are winning quite easily 24-8. I know the question was asked last season, but when did we last win on TV.
Sorry I can't be there, but Hastings to Leigh is too expensive when it's on Premier Sports.

Great performance today and I honestly think the scoreline flattered York! we would have probably had both of the scores that the video ref ruled out had it not been for the TV cameras.Higson was outstanding, baffled that he couldnt claim a regular place in Leighs side last season.Todays result has been coming for a while! we have improved so much from the start of the season and hopefully now we can start to climb the table.

Great performance which could have and should have been a much more convincing scoreline with a little composure and ball control. Our attack in the first half was outstanding and our defence in the second equally so. Higson had a stormer however for me a much more deserving man of the match was Ainscough who set up virtually everything and deserved his last try.
We are finally finding our feet in this league and although the last two results went against us it was clear someone was in for a drubbing.
York appeared to be a team coached to cheat. Their attack relied almost entirely on borderline(forward)passes and slowing down the opposition. Another weak refereeing performance, one or two of our knock ons were missed, and invisible touch judges.
Well done Lions just a pity so few were there to see it.

The pattern of results so far suggests York have the weakest side in the Championship this season and the Lions were far too good for them despite not playing anywhere near full potential. That defeat at the Huntingdon Stadium in the Northern Rail Cup wrankles even more after seeing the evident gulf between the sides today.

Good to see the Challenge Cup has not dented the side's confidence at all.

The first half was solid enough, a pity Kevin Penny didn't take his guilt edged chance and also to concede an interception try right on 40 minutes - else the margin would've already been convincing by half time. Only a stream of basic errors kept York in the game in the second half, when I felt the Lions did well defensively having subjected themselves to a lot of unnecessary pressure through being seriously poor with the ball in hand - completion rate can't have got much above 25% and there were other mistakes thrown in too with the kicking game and a couple of silly penalties given away. But the Knights never really looked like making it pay on the scoreboard, despite having a lot of territorial advantage.

There was only limited value in going up the middle, but when the ball got to the centres the Lions did some proper damage.

The two best Lions players today being Higson (loved the way he turned defence into attack with that ball steal and break) and Ainscough, whose half breaks were supported better than was the case in the earlier matches.

L'Anson is looking more the part, he's an important player for the balance of the side now. He hid his light under a bushel too much in the first part of the season.

It was quite amusing to watch David Mills play like rugby league's biggest half back for about 10 minutes rather than running it in, you can but wonder what has to happen in order for Neil Holland, Lee Wingfield et al to get a chance ahead of him.

Hunslet next week is without a doubt another winnable game. And a sensible kick off time to boot, hurrah! Lets get a roll on.

Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Not to be 'that guy' phil but its I'Anson

We were definitaly our own worst enemy at points in the game, and the scoreline definitely flattered york. Agreed with the comments about ainscough and higson, think its also worth a note that when mills and meekin got took off our 'go forward' improved massively! Great game to watch though and great to see us generally improving week in week out. I think if we can just complete more of our sets and sack david mills we wont go far wrong! Also worth a note, I think it was quite obvious how important mortys goal kicking is for us!!!
Im only smiling because `no-one`'s found the bodies yet.

Lets not be to harsh on the kicking front. A number of Doddys attempts were after all difficult, he also hasn't been called on to kick and it's far easier when kicking regularly after all it is an art in itself. Good performance today by the Lions, one of the highlights being I'Ansons kick for Penny to score, quality.

Another good performance today from the team, it's just a pity the crowd was so poor! I know the match was on TV, but the team deserves better. A great performance and well deserved MOM from Higson, what a outstanding signing he has been for us.

Higson and Ainscough were the stand-out performers IMO. I've sky plussed the game so I'll watch it again later for a better judgement on the game. I watched a few bits earlier and Nobby was ridiculously against the Lions IMO. Very critical of a team that dominated the game from the first to 80th minute, without disrespecting York who also played some good stuff today.

Mark Smith is also worth a mention today, he really organised us and moved us around the field really well. If Morty was playing I'm pretty sure we would have kicked at least 2 more goals and probably conceded 1 less try. But we should have won the game by more today due to the amount of chances and breaks down the field that we created. Doddy put in a really good effort for his first game in a few weeks, but I'm sure he was a better kicker than that 2 seasons ago! A nice cheer went around when he scored his first goal from right under the sticks, but he nailed one from the touch line In the 2nd.

Fev were smashed for 60 AGAIN, we really should have got 3 points against them! Hunslet also got taken apart, another 3 points next week please Lions!

Some people really don't like it when Swinton win, do they?!

Although it is nice to get some credit for a hard fought win! Not just "we rested players", "you brought us down to your level". Sometimes it's just nice to win a game and get credit for playing some good rugby!

Come on Bryce, lets not slip into small club mentality. Fact of the matter is that at the moment the Lions are a much better side than York and ought to have won a lot more comfortably.

Nobby was spot on in that the Lions played pretty awful for almost all the second half. It was mistake after mistake - kept giving York the ball in the wrong half of the pitch. Granted the defence held firm and the Lions never looked like losing, but the second half was a long way short of a perfect performance with the ball.

Just because the Lions won by 20 doesn't mean they played to the best of their ability.

10 point victory in each half Phil, with only 4 conceded in the 2nd 40. It just shows how well we defended even though we were below par in the 2nd. The interception try at the end of the 1st was very harsh I thought.

And you're right Phil, we ought to be picking up more points if we continue to improve and take more of our chances. Mid-table finish too optimistic?

Hunslet are struggling and took a real pounding today, the Lions ought to be going there super confident next week. Keighley will be considerably tougher, but a 50/50 chance of a win I'd say. It will obviously be tough to get anything from the Halifax match, but then its York and Hunslet again - the division's two weakest sides.

So that ought to be at least 4 wins from 6, hopefully 5 wins from 6.

Lets see what effect that has on the league table.

Phil, you never cease to amaze, Just how was we awful, you would have expected York to attack in the second half...they was loosing. What exactly do you want from our team, perfection, if so you need to apply for coach.

Working, which is more than most of the locals do. If you think the Battle of Hastings is over, you haven't spent a Saturday night down here.

ON topic; Swinton played well, they DID deserve to win by a lot more, if the referee was rubbish, so be it, if he missed a couple of knock-ons for us, don't start complaining, next week we may not get away with it.

Plenty of "air-time" for Spelly & son before kick off, did PS know how much he is connected, or was it coincidence?
