Phil, you never cease to amaze, Just how was we awful, you would have expected York to attack in the second half...they was loosing. What exactly do you want from our team, perfection, if so you need to apply for coach.
York were given the opportunity time and again to put pressure on the Lions line in the second half not because of their own good play but because the Lions made error after error with the ball to gift the City Knights possession and territory in the Lions half.
Virtually every player was guilty in this respect. Chas I'Anson failed to make touch from a penalty. Gavin Dodd knocked on a York kick along the floor. Martin Ainscough had a kick on the last tackle charged down. Dale Cunniffe gave away a needless penalty through indiscipline. David Mills tried to play like a scrum half rather than a 20 stone prop and the result was a knock on..... and there were many more.... this was far from a fluent 2nd half performance.
The basis of the win was the defence holding firm which was a very good effort, but fact was the pressure that came from York was mainly self inflicted. If the Lions had played well the winning margin would've been something more like 40 points. York are pretty poor at the moment and they are strong candidates to finish bottom of the league.
