Phil, you never cease to amaze, Just how was we awful, you would have expected York to attack in the second half...they was loosing. What exactly do you want from our team, perfection, if so you need to apply for coach.

York were given the opportunity time and again to put pressure on the Lions line in the second half not because of their own good play but because the Lions made error after error with the ball to gift the City Knights possession and territory in the Lions half.

Virtually every player was guilty in this respect. Chas I'Anson failed to make touch from a penalty. Gavin Dodd knocked on a York kick along the floor. Martin Ainscough had a kick on the last tackle charged down. Dale Cunniffe gave away a needless penalty through indiscipline. David Mills tried to play like a scrum half rather than a 20 stone prop and the result was a knock on..... and there were many more.... this was far from a fluent 2nd half performance.

The basis of the win was the defence holding firm which was a very good effort, but fact was the pressure that came from York was mainly self inflicted. If the Lions had played well the winning margin would've been something more like 40 points. York are pretty poor at the moment and they are strong candidates to finish bottom of the league.

Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Has no-one else on here heard the phrase "Its the sign of a good side to win despite not playing well"????

The expectation level should be higher. This team OUGHT to be beating York convincingly at home! That is why the bookies gave York 14 start on the coupon!

Similarly Hunslet ought to be beaten next week, too........ especially if the attacking side of things clicks into gear.

Its worth remembering that York beat us in the northern rail cup at the start of the season,we have improved so much since that meeting in February.Above all we are good to watch and play some great rugby at times,I for one look forward to every game.

Enjoyed the banquetting suite pre match yesterday and what a great facility that is,hopefully when we get to Agecroft we will have something similar open for all fans to utilise and mix with the players.

The expectation level should be realistic, and it is nice occasionally to savour a victory. We were by no means awful Phil thats too harsh. We are guilty of trying too hard and lacking composure but lets just enjoy the moment. I think any win at this level so early in the season especially such a comprehensive one is a bonus to most Lions fans.

Mark you are talking so much sense - I can only echo everything you say -[ we got promoted to what we know would be know would be a much tougher league this season - what I hoped foe is that we would compete and so far we have - therte ghave been games when we probably should have got more (Dewsbury and Featherstone) but wins against Batley and York cannot be taken for granted - as far as I am concerned its work in progress annd Steve and the lads are doing just that

I think we are playing some great Rugby attack and defence. As the new boys in this league we are surprising teams with the way we are playing. As long as the team are showing great spirit and giving 100% i dont see a problem. I will take any win against any team in this league. Credit to Steve Mac for making some good signings and making last years players lift their game to compete at this level. There is place for improvement but we are going in the right direction.Keep up the good work Lions.

We always sign the wrong brother.
