After yesterday,we should be ready for this game.If we just relax. and enjoy this one with no pressure on us,anything can happen.Does anyone know of if any players got any knocks? I will go for Halifax 40- Dewsbury 30,a good point out of this one will do.

Thought Sunday would give us an idea of exactly where we are in playing terms, which on the face of it puts us in a small group on the edge of the playoffs. If the coach can instil self belief into the squad, and we can carry our "first twenty minute" performancesm into the entire match against Fax, I genuinely believe we could run them close. If on the other hand, they are given the same pep talk they got against London, then it's a stuffing I'm afraid. One thing is certain though, we need the best available squad out for the match, not mates and teachers pets, but the best players. A good performance should set us up for a good season, a drubbing will put us right back to square one - SIMPLESAfter yesterday,we should be ready for this game.If we just relax. and enjoy this one with no pressure on us,anything can happen.Does anyone know of if any players got any knocks? I don't wholly agree with the criticism which gets raised on the forum about maintaining the intensity the team show in the first 20 minutes throughout the game. It isn't going to be possible, but the tactic of putting the opposition under as much pressure as possible in the first quarter of a match often yields benefits in the later stages.
On Sunday we were under extreme pressure for much of the second half, and I thought that when Keighley went in front we were in for a towelling. Yet the side battled back and in the end our forwards were dominating the game, allowing us to get in front and win. In my opinion this dominance was a direct result of the work that Crossley in particular, and others made Keighley do in the first 20 minutes. If starting at 100 mph and then dropping into a more sustainable way of playing is a tactic that WJ employs on purpose then, for me, it worked on Sunday.
Of course the first pre requisite is that you have to have a good share of the ball early on, and whether it will have the same effect against a much better side in Halifax remains to be seen. I fear it may not yield the same result, but I am more confident that we can make a good contest of it than I would have been a few weeks ago. I will settle for a bonus point, and hope for better when we get them at home.

Well WJ has been rated as poor by many of us and Darryl Powell as some sort of Championship messiah. I reckon the time is right for many of us, me included, to start giving warren the proper credit for the improvements that he has wrought this season.
I look forward to a strong committed performance on Sunday against a very strong and expensive Halifax side. If we can get any sort of positive outcome, and that would include a BP, it will be a major achievement.

I don't know where you get "expensive" from. The Championship salary cap doesn't allow for "expensive".

If BSJ says "expensive", then expensive it is.

I have every confidence he is able to back up his statement with all necessary facts and figures.

Anybody can beat anybody in this league and I think Sundays encounter will be a close run thing. The team to watch at the moment seem to be Leigh and if they can keep it up they are going to take some beating. Fev seem to be having a tough time at the moment in the league and I think another defeat at Batley could knock their confidence well down, so they will be hurt and and will want to put in a big performance at Batley. WJ needs to approach our game with Fax like a play off semi final and get the boys pumped up. If we win and Fev win we'll go top.Now wouldn't that be something.

That should be "font" as I'm sure you know.
My expression "expensive" is based upon the numerous Batley players who were lured to the Shay by wealth unavailable to them at Mount Pleasant (see postings on Batley forum passim). Of course if the information contained upon that forum, which I have always taken to be totally factual, is actually incorrect then I will in turn stand corrected.

The Championship salary cap is much more elastic than that in SL, despite Barrow being eventually caught out last season. i have no doubt that all at Halifax are fully aware of this fact even as they nervously check on their stock of plastic buckets.

The font of all knowledge is clearly Times New Roman, as any fule kno.
In Coolie's case, Comic Sans.
Which should go some way to answering your second point regarding the veracity of postings on the Batley (or any other) forum.

Good post Steve. I agree entirely about our current master plan. As you say it might be trickier against Fax, as it was against Fev, but here's hoping.I don't wholly agree with the criticism which gets raised on the forum about maintaining the intensity the team show in the first 20 minutes throughout the game. You don't need to stand. Take a seat if you wish.

We replaced them with stainless steel a good many years ago actually. Go on then, as we're taking a trip back in time, let's dredge up the "country mile" as well and get it over with.

I thought the Cougars would be too strong for you on Sunday and was proved wrong (not for the first time, but possibly only the second).
Fax I think will be too strong and a bonus point would be a good result but I can't see it, there again I could be wrong for the third time in my life

Think the outcome will depend on whether Warren has his ordinary head or his turnip head on when it comes to selection. Sometimes you wonder if he employs a Glenn Hoddle type soothsayer that tells him "move spicer to centre, drop Flannagan and craven and put smith on the wing".I thought the Cougars would be too strong for you on Sunday and was proved wrong (not for the first time, but possibly only the second).

If he gets it right we could give them a game.
I must admit Warren Gummidge has a ring to it tho`
When I want your opinion, I will remove the gaffer tape

According to WJ on Radio Leeds after the game, Flanny was taken ill on Wednesday and rushed to hospital on Thursday and had an abscess removed that was poisoning his body.
