Mel wasn't just funny in the Not the 9 o'Clock News sketch format; he could act a bit too. From the albino in 'The Princess Bride' to the hotel manager in 'Dancing on the Edge', he was excellent. Oh, and he was the co-founder of Talkback Productions, too. And he directed 'The Tall Guy'.

A top talent, as long as you avoid 'Morons from Outer Space'.

Great lost artist of the 70's. His reputation since has been largely maintained  as a songwriter, There must be some real gems for a retrospective album.

Emile Griffith. Fantastic boxer, never got the post-career recognition that he dserved, probably because he was gay.

I  remember him beating Brian Curvis, who I didn't realise had died last year.

The Retrobloke second-hand record shop in Hendon - my local, as it were.  :(

Went there on Saturday to find a 'closed for business' sign on the door. They are continuing as an on-line seller, but it's not the same.

I saw him with Stanley Clarke at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in May this year.

They were phenomenal. A great loss to the music world.

That's no age.

A bit of my youth has died there.

For a youngish band (90's) thats's now two members that have passed on with the keyboard player dying in his 30's.
