Tom looked an excellent prospect in pre-season but hasnt had much game time during the actual season as he's obviously got Ben Black and Gareth Moore in front of him, who are going to be difficult to displace.
Got good hands, decent kicking game, dangerous sidestep and a fair turn of pace for a half back.
A decent piece of business for all concerned IMO as Tom gets game time and time to continue his development which can only help the Bulldogs, and the Hawks get a very useful player at a time when you are decimated by injuries in the halves.
Hope Tom has a successful spell at Hunslet.

As Nick states its win win all round and its a very good piece of business by the club and the player for reasons kept off here.
Also signing a up and coming player short term with vast experience of SL 20's who is highly rated enough by JK to take him across the mount with him to put pressure on the current fit half backs who are currently guaranteed a game due to the current injury situation and to stop us from playing players out of position makes perfect sense and is hardly in line with Sampson's signing of Steve Beard & Gary Shillabeer.
Unless or course a sugar daddy wants to fund a overseas star.........or a Ben Black or a Paul Cooke to that matter.
If you support Hunslet you know the score by now beg, steal or borrow or make your own or support the Fev's & Fax's of this world who can afford the above luxuries.

Hendersons not a bad player far from it we just have some good backs at the moment and our first choice team is looking good. I hope he does well for the Hawks along with Menzies. You have Eaton who is one of the best coaches in this league and he will pull a team together by hook or by crook that will have you competing by the end of the season. Look on the bright side you have a better ground and team than York

From what I saw on Sunday, granted you had a hooker at 6 who in fairness didnt have a bad game, Tom will definitely give you something in the halves.
If it hadn't of been for the possibly originally unplanned signing of Moore during the NRC after his sudden departure from Wakey, this lad would have been first choice 7 for us based on Pre season performances.
Him and Menzies are a different level than the 2 players previously mentioned. They've just been unlucky at Batley as they play in positions where we've got some excellent players who are currently on form.

spot on steve .,somebody said that with these players coming in will help towards the end of the season,so i take it the season ends in a months time, dont see the point in a 1 month loan deal now a season long deal couldve worked, i cant see how these two players are gonna make the rest play any better than they have done so far, just my opinion mindSorry but this has to be said, we are fast resorting to the dark days of Roy Sampson where we only signed Batley cast offs.At this rate we will have a full team of Batley/Dewsbury reserves and are becoming the Heavy Woolen non-stars again.

What gets me Steve is that you sat with me second half on Sunday and moaned all half just as I did that we lacked a half back and someone who could unlock the defence, true? The club goes out and gets a halfback who was taken to Batley by John Kear to be first choice before Moore got released from wakey, and all you've done is moan he's from Batley, how can the club win? And u more than most knows the state the club is in financially and the fact we can even go get a player for a month or a year is a small miracle in its self, but you come on here and post a ridiculous comment like the above, it amazes me that u can a) compare this team and our coach to that of the Roy Sampson era, B, compare batley of today to that of batley in that era and c) make a statment based on us signing a quality prop at this level till the end of the season, and a young quality ex super league scrum half to cover our injuries and get our best hooker back to hooker. I seriously don't know what you expect from a club with no money to do?I,ll give the kid a chance on sunday but im only saying what other people are thinking.

Thanks for your opinion, very insightful as ever, one point, Wasn't your son a Batley cast off? So signing batley players can't be that bad eh? To add my own personal comment on the injury situation both Grimmer & Ratts require the same operation at roughly 3k each. You and FF generously offered to pay a third of that fee between you but for Grimmer alone.
The club would have to stump up the remaining 2k which quite frankly it hasnt got and if it had that should be directed to other avenues of debt repayment.
I would not agree to or sleep well or even look Danny Ratts in the eye if we got Grimmer sorted and said sorry Ratts its just one of those things.
When contract renegotiations come round what do you think Danny R would think about how the club have looked after one star but left the other high and dry.
NHS it is and will be for both like it or not.
Both players are key but will be treated equally.

Excellent post Hawkeye.
However crucial certain players are, we can't be setting up effectively a two-tier system of having some of them being sorted out privately and some on the NHS.
As far as Henderson - and Menzies for that matter - are concerned, let's give them a couple of weeks to see what they can do before we start judging them.

Baz stop posting on here please. Let them get on with it. I have told you loads of times you have bigger thinks to sort out than arguing with these on here.

I wouldn't be happy one bit. You cant sort one out and leave the other one to wait. You are doing what you can with what you have. I had my op on the NHS even though I think the surgeon was on community service by the state of the scar I have been left with.
