This has been spoke about by a few people at the club with split opinions, personally i think it would be a great idea as it would give players such as
Mark Barlow, Danny Samuels, Matthew Tebb, Jermaine Akaidere, Jonathan Schofield and Billy Harris game time at still a decent competetive level, which will also benefit the younger and less experienced players at Dewsbury Moor confidence and will be able to Learn off better quality players
This deal would work on the basis of they would train With the rams and moor (split sessions) with the possiblity of Adam hayes or matty walker coming down to dewsbury moor and taking a few sessions and making sure both sets of players are happy and play off the same plays
but if needed in the 1st team at rams wouldbe called up and removed from the Moor Squad!
What are peoples thoughts on this idea for both the rams lads and Moor club???

It has been brought up to a few Dewsbury Moor player that there could be a possible link up wih the Dewsbury Rams regarding 2nd string players,

I would think the rumours are unfounded. Non starter.

How would you feel if you were signed on at Dewsbury Moor, or any other local amature club, you train 3 times a week only to be dropped for a lad that can`t get a game for the Rams, I`d be just a bit hissed off, wouldn`t you

As the only local professional rugby league team (excluding our pals across the valley) we should have strong links with ALL teams Shaw Cross, Ossett Trinity, Dewsbury Moor, Thornhill, whoever.
You never know where the next Sam Tomkins will turn up.
I agree with you regarding links with the local clubs
but on the point about where the next Sam Tomkins will turn up, do you really think we would get a sniff, Leeds,Bradford,Huddersfield etc are way in front of us there,
They tie the best local talent in to their academy set ups from about 12 years old
Bradford even prevented George & Tom Burgess playing in a cup final for the moor a few seasons back

We probably wouldn't get a chance at the next Sam Tomkins, but as can be seen by our dual reg players, signing for a Leeds or Bradford Team doesn't guarantee a first team place.
If young players are familiar with Dewsbury Rams and its backroom staff, they may request to be placed with us. Or choose to sign for us in the first place.
A Sam Tomkins I don't expect but another Craven or Crossley I would gladly accept.

The young kids get their heads filled with promises from Superleague scouts, by the time Dewsbury get their fingers out they are tied in to Leeds or Bradford`s academy
And lets face it 14,15,16 year old kids would rather get regular coaching from the likes of Rob Burrow & Barrie McDermott than Matty Walker, no disrespect meant to Matty

Would the players want it themselves or would they look at it as a step back instead of a step forward even though it meant a regular game
They would probably look upon it as the ideal opportunity to get injured whilst playing for nowt.
