Following a crashing defeat against 'Fax, albeit somewhat expected, and our fairly dismal record against Sheffield in recent years do we have any realistic chance of a favourable result on Friday?
Sadly (or should that be pessimistically) I predict another defeat. They are strong in attack and more clinical finishers than we are at present as well as being on a good run of form. Add to that home advantage and the fact that many of our lads will be fresh from work and it is hard to forecast anything better than a BP.

If the team play like they did for the majority of the game against Halifax they will get well beaten as the tackling was terrible, but if they play as they did for the rest of game when scoring 22 points they might just stand a chance of coming away with something out of this game

I don't think our tackling will have improved from the Halifax game and whilst we did score points late on, you have to wonder if Halifax had switched off by then. I forecast another game without even a bonus point.

To be fair, Sheffield aren`t ripping up trees, apart from their demolition of Fev
I agree that our recent record against them isn`t great, but we aren`t playing that bad, as our league position shows
I think we can come away with a result from deedaah land
Sheff 16 Rams 20

Can't see anything other and a defeat tonight I'm afraid, but we should be able to pick up a BP.

Couldn't agree more. Despite our improved form and defence this year I would be happy with a bonus point. Always tough at Sheffield. Can't see anything other and a defeat tonight I'm afraid, but we should be able to pick up a BP.

30 nil behind at half time doesn't bode well at all does it?

Jowitt said: “It’s hard to put a finger on why we did not perform and I am just putting it down to a bad day at the office.
“There were too many players who were not firing. Maybe it was the big effort we put in against Keighley the week before that backfired a little on us.
“Perhaps we put too much pressure on ourselves and were thinking about going top, rather than the job of winning the game, but you could look for as many excuses as you want, you are not going to change it.
It's difficult to understand whether WJ genuinely believes this or is just showing a bit of bravado. We have beaten the three bottom sides in the league and won against Keighley which was a very good win. Take Liam Hood away and we may have lost to Keighley.
But we are a long way away from the likes of Fev and Halifax who have spent a lot more on their squads than the Rams have and dare I say it have better coaches. Beating teams like Keighley Batley and Sheffield are the games we need to win if we want to claim a play-off spot (although not tonight) being top would just be a temporary fluke.
42-4 just about says it all and there's harder games to come against Fev and Leigh. It is hard to see us making the play-offs.

It would have been more than a fluke had Dewsbury gone top tonight...best would have been second; Don't lose faith too easily Sheffield hit Fev for 60 as did Fax but it doesn't turn Fev into a bad side; There are other circumstances to tke into account; Dewsbury had an excellent win last week and they will win a few more;Jowitt said: “It’s hard to put a finger on why we did not perform and I am just putting it down to a bad day at the office.

42-10 and the next three games are Leigh, Fev and Halifax so three more defeats. Think the question is whether we can finish 7th or 8th. We are a long way behind being a top six side.

Dewsbury: Craven, Smith, Esders, Faal, Buchanan, Walker, Southernwood, Singleton, Blake, Crossley, Spicer, Barker, Tonks.
Replacements: Harris, Barber, Wainwright, Hood.
My man on the ground tells me it was "totally unaccaptable" and that Jowitt only spent two minutes in the dressing rooms with the players at half time when we were 30-0 down.

Inept!
We couldn't tackle and when we had the ball in hand (rare in the first half) we controlled the one up barge forward move. If we did pass the ball it was slow and obvious to the opposition what was about to happen, so players were dumped, or nobody ran on to the ball. We couldn't hold the ball and we kept conceding penalties (having said that, I think we might have won the penalty count by the end!).
Menzie Yere scored two first half tries from close to our line with would-be tacklers trying bring him down by caressing his shoulders; nobody went for his legs.
It took 15 minutes for me to get inside the ground; signage was as bad as at the Stoop, non-existent as far as I could tell. Of course I picked the wrong side to try and gain entry and had to circumnavigate Sheffield to find the ticket office. There was no queue on this side, but, crumb of comfort, it wasn't a long queue either on the other side, which I joined initially with those Blades' fans wanting tickets for some visit of theirs to Wembley.
To end an evening of misery I was invited back next Thursday to join them for the Sheffield v Batley match. Not likely I said, by way of thanks!

Rightly, I (like others) predicted a defeat but if we cant beat the sides around us in such a tight league, we need to be with them come 80 minutes (achievable with the players we have) and at least get the BP. Not good enough, and can't see it getting better after two heavy defeats, and equally tough games ahead.
Maybe Keighley was a fluke?
Taxi for Mr Jowitt I think!?

Thanks for the team selection, I don't think it was a fluke against Keighley they played some very good rugby that day and played for each other but you will never win games with one man rugby. How often do you see dummy runners or players running hard and fast onto a ball the players don't give the halfbacks any options at times even when moves are called some players aren't where they should be or the ball goes the other way It's about time wj hot it sorted out

so there is a pattern developing now...
we turn in a good performance every 4 months
batley boxing day
keighley a couple of weeks back
so next one will be end of september
that mean were going to win the grand final
............................................................................not
sooner the season is over the better, new man in charge, new players...specially at halfback, and a brand new loose forward
and most of all a end to one man down the middle pathetic dross of rugby, without the threat of violence if you fail !!!!!!!!
after the run of next for games without a win...even the likes of swinton, hunslet & york will be looking forward to playing us.

Alot of nonsense being posted now. The win against Keighley was no fluke it was a very good performance. What the last two games have shown is what most of us know; there are two leagues within a league in the Championship with Leigh, Fev, Halifax, Sheffield and probably Batley a way ahead of the others. Keighleys win at Batley shows the gap can be breached, but look what Keighley have spent to try and get into the top four. Realistically our target for now has to be finishing above the Yorks, Hunslets and Swintons and so far we look like doing this. I arent a fan of WJ, but lets get real. We have made progress and if we can consildate and make sure we are safe next year then thats a job well done. Compared to last year we are playing and (despite the evidence of the last two games) defending better and have had three very good wins and I think the perfomance at Swinton will turn out to much better than most of us thought at the time.

Stop talking common sense Nick. You should know that our next coach is waiting around the corner to take us to new heights together with the three or four superstars that we will sign along the way.
We're actually playing better than we have done in four years, it's just that hopes and expectations will always be greater than reality.
Believe what you see, don't see what you believe.
