Acorn 28-22 hunslet warriors was a good game to watch acorn raced into a 16-0 lead within 20mins n it looked like a pasting was on the cards but credit to hunslet who dug in n had acorn holding on in the last few mins as the pushed for the draw.

I understand hunslet had 37 regular first team players missing but only lost the game because of ill discipline

A biased ref, terrible pitch, bad karma, their feng shu was out of sync and the suns electrogravitation pull pushed them of kilt. Certainly nothing to do with them been out played!!!! Sounds like an accurate report to me.

One thing I see on here is that the Warriors must have upset some of you deeply on here - having dipped my toe into the reffing world recently - I have had the pleasure of officiating both the 18s and open age and have found the players and club itself to be very well run if a little needy of the officials but in no way enough to kop the flack they get on here. Lets remember people they take a huge number of kids and adults off the streets every week surely worth some credit at the very least

Leigh Miners 38 v 0 West Hull
Leigh Miners moved up to third in the NCL yesterday afternoon after picking up an impressive 38-0 home victory against an in form West Hull outfit. With both teams being full of confidence after recent victories the game started fast with both teams playing good attacking rugby, Miners scored early on when Ross Bradley’s offload put winger Martin Gray over in the corner, Jonny Youds converting from the touchline to give Miners the early advantage. The visitors responded with a good spell of pressure making the Miners defence work hard to prevent Wests getting on the score sheet, after soaking up the pressure Adam Thomason put Miners two scores in front reaching out to score under the posts, Youds converting to give the score 12-0, That was followed by a third try in the next set to hit Wests with a quick fire double, Lee Gittins finishing off after Miners worked their way up field playing fast attacking rugby, Youds converting again to increase the score to 18-0. West Hull wasn’t to going to let their heads drop despite being three scores down, again they responded with a large amount of pressure making Miners dig deep and scramble at times to keep the visitors scoreless. Miners got a bit of luck for their fourth try in the final few minutes of the half Martin Lewis looked to have obstructed the West Hull defence after crossing behind an attacker but the ref waved play on and from that play Miners broke through Jonny Youds who dummied the full back to score, Youds converting his try to give the score 24-0. Youds was in again just before the half time whistle, diving over in the left corner to score and give Miners a 28-0 lead after a very good first half performance.
The second half went without score for a long spell with Miners scoring two tries in last ten to fifteen minutes of the match, Martin Gray going in for his second of the match beating his winger on the outside to score in the corner. Joe Harrison scored Miners final try after Lee Gittins had the ball knocked out of his hands over the line, Harrison diving on the loose ball to score, Jonny Youds converting his fifth goal to give Miners a 38-0 victory against a good West Hull outfit. The pleasing thing for Miners was keeping the score at nil, but they know yesterday’s performance will count for nothing if they don’t pick up two points next week on the road at Saddleworth Rangers.
MINERS TEAM = J. Youds, S. Pendlebury , L. Gittins, R. Bradley, M. Gray, M. Lewis, S. O’Brien, C. Connor, T. Farrimond, D. Kay, A. Thomason, S. Marsh, D. Jackson, SUBS = J. Harrison, D. Jones, K.Howells, L. Coleman
