Seeing that there are not many people posting on Oldham R L F C ....does this indicate a lack of interest any more ?

I see that when the Olympic Torch is carried through Oldham on June 23rd they have looked high and wide for people from Oldham to carry it , and unforetunately they can not find many people worthy of doing so. Out of the 11 torch bearers that will carry the torch through Oldham 3 are from Oldham and one from Ashton. Another 5 are from surrounding towns .They have therefore flown two people all the way from Australia over to carry it ... One was born in Maidstone, but she liked the country that much she left and went to Australia 28 years ago now and I doubt she has been back much since apart from collecting a medal from the Queen at Buck House for work done in Australia. I would think that she has never heard of Oldham let alone been here. the other chap is from Warrimoo, which is in Saddleworth ( just kidding its in Australia of course) and as far as I can assertain has no connections with GB at all .........unless you can enlighten me ? At least

This just goes to show the utter contempt that "THE ESTABLISHMENT" has for towns like Oldham.

I agree, it's a farce, but nothing more than I imagined. It wasn't that long ago that Oldham had the England football captain in David Platt, and England Cricket captain, Michael Atherton - now which other town in out country could boast that? Disgraceful. Maybe they could strap it to the front of the Metrolink, and save everyone the bother - but then again it would be late ;)
