I'm surprised this has not been posted already. The RLIF gets accused of not doing much but after reading this report, I accept some criticism is overstated. It would be good to see this sort of publicity on a regular basis. Some things need to be highlighted.
* The financial cycle. One fat year of RLWC takings followed by loss making years in between. It highlights the importance of the RLWC. Furthe, Nigel Wood acknowledges the RLIF need to develop revenue streams in between RLWC tournaments such as sponsorship revenue, increased rlevies for Test matches and broadcasting revenue, which appears to be the domain of nation's governing bodies at the moment.
* Recognition by the Commonwealth Games Federation is a good start. Unfortunately many nations only recognise sports affiliated with global bodies such as the IOC or CGF when it comes to funding. The most recent press release from the RLIF showed they were trying to join Sport Accord or ARISF, which works closely with the IOC and enables non-Olympic sports to get a foot in the door with governments whose sports funding exists via Olympic Committee channels.
* Page 38 lists the development grants handed out by the RLIF. I think this is separate from the RLEF as they also provide an annual report.
Anyway, good to be updated.

Apart from a tiny grant, not a mention of the USA. No membership of RLIF, RLEF or Aasia/Pacific. Yet it somehow gets to the World Cup proper.

It's also mentioned that the AMNRL was the only body that declined to take part in the WC accelerator program...Apart from a tiny grant, not a mention of the USA. No membership of RLIF, RLEF or Aasia/Pacific. Yet it somehow gets to the World Cup proper.
