From today's Oldham Chronicle:-

"A Liability Order has been made against Oldham Rugby League Football Club for failing to pay non-domestic rates and costs.
The order was granted yesterday by Oldham magistrates and it means Oldham Council can enforce payment of the debt. The £2,900 average cost of the Liability Order will be added to the outstanding amount which must be paid in full, rather than by instalments."

Comments please from those who think the right man is in charge.

No 'historic' debt this one
.
How many more times?

Just Read frank Sinatra .....no more need be said I think ........ Perhaps Rob The Gardener or another with the Rose Tinted Glasses can cough up the £2,900 ......... .mind you there is a grid at the end of out street that would be just as deserving of that £2,900........ Also Funny how I and all the other poster's on this forum and all the other businisse's that still exist in Oldham ( as looking round the precinct half of thise are now EMPTY ) have to pay THEIR rates on time ........If they are HONEST that is !!!!!!!!!

Greetings Roughyeds...

£2900?? loose change that to us, its usually 100 grand we get hit with. :)

Any similarity to Queens English is purely coincidental.

From my reading it looks like £2900 is the amount of the costs on top of the original debt. How much is the debt? Worse still it is surely not a good thing to get on the wrong side of the council when we have been relying on them for support in getting Whitebank and developing it. Grim days.

Oh ye of little faith. Oldham is run by an accountant who
will pay at the last minute if he has any sense. Only the foolhardy pay before they need too. We need to squeeze what we can when we can. It's called business sense. Such is life

Absolutely appalling statement. The rest of us (including you rugbyman 1) have to make up the deficit for all the non-payers and late payers.

Apart from which there is such a thing as 'goodwill'. When you need the backing of an organisation to further your plans it doesn't seem sensible to me to alienate the very people whose help you need. If I was on the Council would I vote to help ORLFC now? Definitely NOT!

Unpaid tax bills. Unpaid Vat. Now its a little closer to home.Fans have to pay their council tax bills why should Oldham Rugby be any different.

As for saying that he is an accountant and all accountants leave paying bills to the last minute is totally wrong and that statement is an insult to all law abiding practicing accountants.

The club runs on a shoestring and on the edge at all times. Why are people suprised?

I'm sure people will be demanding changes in coach/players after today but lets face it, we can't afford it.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
