We are gauging interest and opinions on a name change from Rams, this is just an opinion poll and nothing has been agreed that this will be the case, please make your vote and maybe suggest any possibilities.
Please don't use this poll or thread for for anything other than the topic title.

I don't really see a need to change it. What would be the benefits? It would involve a great cost i would imagine re-branding everything including signage, letterheads etc.
It would still be the same club and the same players if a name change took place. Surely there are much more important things to think about rather than a name change.

It's not April is it ? seriously, what suggestions were mooted ? TBH I suspect this topic will generate more attention from the Dogs fans, than from the Dewsbury faithful. FWIW - I'm still coming to terms with us being called the Rams.

Me too, if we are going to change again I would vote for a change to DEWSBURY RLFC. Nothing else, just that. It tells you everything you need to know and nothing that you don't.

Don't you need to click a button somewhere to initiate a poll?
Do also remember that not everyone who posts on here is a Dewsbury fan (nor necessarily representative of the average supporter).
Old Gimmers like most of the posters on here will have managed for many years without a nickname at all so I reckon you should particularly gauge the opinions of younger fans to see what might appeal and, hence, be of more use in marketing and promotion.
It will be sad to see Roger put down though.
Believe what you see, don't see what you believe.

Hey, hey BSJ, steady on!!!! We are not all Old Gimmers.........there is life in some of the old dogs yet!!!!!!
And Roger only needs to be put out to pasture!!

Why the change is needed is beyond me, leave things alone, concentrate on developing what we already have and improving things.
Leave the constant tinkering to the RFL, they seem to enjoy it so much.

Im all for a name change if it generates a massive amount of new investment and increases attendances on matchday.
What that magical,or probably more accurately, mythical name change should be, i havent a clue.

Ostriches? This would save costs on a new website, as one already exists.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Oooh I wondered when that would surface
When I want your opinion, I will remove the gaffer tape

Spend the last however long marketing a brand, then for no reason whatsoever re-brand.
I personally don't believe changing the name will achieve anything in terms of the positive.
If you are looking to reignite the brand then it should be marketed for families, lets be honest, there is a distinct lack of kids at the stadiums on game days when compared to other clubs. Ergo, the club is missing out on a corner of the market that others are embracing.

Leave it as it is, Rams is fine, doubt calling us anything else would generate much other than the costs of changing it.

James, what would be the purpose/aims of a name change? What would be hoped to achieve from it?

Of course the purpose of a name change would be to try and attract more supporters, investment and cast a light over the club. But, i doubt something as simple as a name change would achieve this. Yes times are tough and different ideas have to be thought of, but i just think that a change of name wouldn't create much of a change. Maybe the club would like to put forward the thinking behind it.

Yes, I know there are several answers to my question depending who answers it, but for now I'm only interested in the answer from whoever came up with the idea.

Dan, Just a discussion in the office ... yes marketing and revamp would be massive, just wondered the thoughts of spectators, as with most ideas and discussions don't leave the office so we thought we would open it up for debate, and their is no plan to change the name.
As far as marketing in schools and to kids last year we distributed around 2000 free tickets for children that we had worked with in schools, sadly the return was only around 7%.
We are out most days in schools around the amateur clubs and in the community trying to increase the interest and draw to Dewsbury Rams for younger supporters and although the increased interest and awareness of the club is their, sadly we are very limited in seeing these faces up at Tetley's Stadium.
I am not a marketing 'Guru' but myself and the community team are passionate about the club and do all that we can to ensure that we 'sell' & 'defend' every part of the club as best we can within our limits.

If it's any consolation CR, things are little better for many SL clubs. My brother was a "keen" Giants supporter, but he only used to go when his daughter got free tickets from school - now she is at Uni he watches them from the comfort of his own armchair. Having said that, he also used to get freebies from one of those big fancy gymns he belongs to - would approaching them be a possibility ? Sadly the only way I think we would increase interest in the club would be by improved performances on the pitch, which would mean better players, which would mean more money, which would require better attendances - catch 22 really. Even better performances doesn't guarantee anything, as Batleys attendances have shown.

I think that whatever the club does we don't attract new supporters. Changing the name has no relevence to anyone who doesn't attend games and won't make them want to pay £13 to watch a mediocre team.

OK my record's stuck I know, but how about making the ground a bit more family friendly and get the back of the post open as a start?
If the club are considering spending money on a re-brand (which happened to an extent only 2 or 3 years back with the logo change) why not spend it on the requirements for the above?
Other ways in improve income what about season ticket offers. SL season ticket holders get in for £10.00, or a family season ticket set price?
