RIP Yorkshire League?
Probably. Shame for those who have worked hard for that league with little or no thanks.

The best thing for all the clubs in the Yorkshire League and for the winter game in general would be a complete switch to the Pennine!

The Yorkshire League has been in decline for a number of years now and if all the clubs above get accepted into the Pennine there would be little to no point in continuing.

Check which league in the last 10 to 12 years have supplied the most teams to the NCL

Apart from Fryston and whoever Chequers pull in to play it's a very balanced league. Not a very exciting league. Fryston giving up on summer then?

I know which league has supplied the most teams to the NCL and I know which league has lost the remainder of it's quality teams to the Pennine, it is the very same league that I have spent my life playing in but there is little point in running a league with so few teams.
It is a shame that a once great league is in the situation it is now and it is a shame for all the people who have put a lot of effort in to running the league over the years with little to no praise but like I have said it has been coming for some time, certainly over the last few years.

Would Ryhill and Kinsley be prepared to stick with it? What is with Fryston and Chequerfield anyway? They seem tin pot chasers of the worst form. Chequerfield actually asked to be relegated after a midtable finish in the top flight last year and ran away with division 2.Apart from Fryston and whoever Chequers pull in to play it's a very balanced league.

It is a shame but teams moving under the very well-run Pennine league banner will only strengthen the winter game!
IMO the Yorkshire league committee did look after and protect (Bent a few rules in their favour) some of the top few sides far too much and IMO this resulted in the middle of the road sides (Talking on the field strength) either moving to the NCL or Pennine league leaving a massive void just below the top few sides and the remainder of the clubs!
Again IMO, This void has in recent times seen the better sides moving across to the Pennine League to find the on field competition that the better sides seek.
Another major downfall was how the management posts always seemed to be filled from within their own circle of friends (With some holding more than one post), I’m not sure if they advertised vacant posts, just asked about within their circle or no new blood ever came forward, whichever way it was done the management style became stagnant and neglectful.

The Pennine run to a very strict entry criteria involving facilities, finance and importantly how the club management is run.
CLUBS HAVE BEEN REFUSED IN THE PAST

They had no leadership, their league fixtures where made up in most cases on a Thursday night, teams wanting to drop a division or two because they lost a few games, teams not just turning up or cancelling games with some lame excuse and not getting penalised for such actions.
It looks like the Pennine league has taken over and is run/organised very well, but how would it deal with any NCL clubs that wanted to go back to Winter rugby.
What division would they get put in?

West Bowling who, I believe were in NCL div 2 in the last full NCL winter season joined the Pennine League last season. They got put in the Pennine Premier and struggled. Think they finished 2nd bottom.

Yeah BARLA are talking about a national conference but think Pennine League would be better. Clubs from the bottom half of division 2 at least should really enter at Championship level IMO but hard to know for some clubs. Division 1 used to be the highest new clubs could join incidentallyNot sure what division any team from the NCL would get put in if they joined the Pennine. Guess it would depend on how good they were on the field.

Agreed but I'd go one step further and say even a Lancashire team should go Pennine as they're now allowed in.For any club wishing to leave the NCL they would be better joining the Pennine league if geographically acceptable, as anything run by BARLA will end up a sham if it gets off the ground at all.
