Oldham had a try disallowed in the first few seconds for a forward pass. How costly will that be?

And its not over yet. Admittingly, it looks like Doncaster, Barrow & Workington are up and its between Whitehaven and Oldham for the final spot. Its now a 5 points difference, but look at the next two games for both sides

Oldham: Rochdale (H), Whitehaven (A)
Whitehaven: Workington (A), Oldham (H)

I would fancy Oldham to beat Rochdale & Workington to beat Whitehaven and not let them get a bonus point. Then its all done to the game at Whitehaven, Oldham win that, then its all square with the possibility of Oldham being a point ahead if they win by more than 12.

243 points conceded in 5 games , even with the 76 points Saints racked up against us taken off that total it is still very poor and if the manager and chairman feel that that is acceptable than we all may as well call it a day , as it is clear that the whole set up has no ambition what so ever

Best team lost today. Some really bizzare decisions by the man in the middle, and never penalised the Welsh once in the second half. He missed them crossing on at least four occasions, twice in the second stanza.

NW played some great stuff as did Oldham. Lucky for them when Greenwood passed to Ellison with the line begging in the second half, and the ball went to ground
And at the end, a pass that the official had let go most of the game was judged forward, that would of won Oldham the came.
I have not witnesed a game for years that has not conceeded a penalty in a half, it was beyond belief. They were very unfortunate not to win.

Something neither Hamilton or Benson can do anything about . The team played well today, and I'm proud of them .

2 key moments for me late in second half: Gillam caught a ball with one foot in touch, half and half decision (depending on who you were supporting) as to whether he took it out or caught it there, they got the decision. Then with minutes to go great side step by Ellison to score but after very very marginal call for forward pass. Their decision again. But to blame the ref alone covers up the whole picture. he first 10 minutes or so were to be frank the worst I've seen from any Oldham side anywhere for 20 years or more. Couldn't pass, tackle, defence at sixes and sevens. Neil Roden rusty as hell; Martin Roden so slow at play the balls that we made it easy for them. Penalty after penalty after dropped ball, !0 nil down. But then we started to play proper simple basic rugby and their heads went down as we battered them to 20-10 half time or such score and the match was ours. No excuse for not closing it down, duff refereeing decsions, sleeping touch judes or what. Greenwood was top notch, always gave them problems. The number 14, dual reg from Leeds I gather, name didn't catch was a proper rugby player and did well. But apart from odd ments from most of the teamall the best players who made a difference, albeit in stages, were theirs. We just wren't mentally tough enough and didn't have someone to tell them all what to do, where to be and how to do it at key stages of the game. Huge credit for fighting back from the disastrous start but simply not enough. So much affort but too little direction. It will come I think once we gat a win under our belt, and maybe more experienced players back. All confidence I guess. But I could hav ecried for them.
Final point: the Crusaders crowd were maginificent, loads of youngsters, massive noise, you could visibly see them help to squeeze that extra effort out of their team. Well done to them.

Doesn't make it easy but we can still do it.But we cannot repeat our performance in the first 25 mins. That was the worst i've seen from Oldham in a long time. After that we were much better, more composed and were unlucky not to win in the end. First 25 was too many mistakes (one from the KO set the scene), too many poor passes to feet or to nobody.Nothing TB can do about that i'm afraid. Much better after 25 and Elly's last try was probably ok, certainly no NW fans were shouting for a forward.Ref wasn't good, let NW get away with constant crossing and holding down. Having said that NW were steadily consistent which was the key in the end.

Too many risky offloads in our own 20 in the first half and failing to complete the sets didn't help our nervous start.M.Roden i'm sad to say had a poor game and wa stoo slow to play the ball, passing to feet or to space just stopped our game flow. Clough was much much better and I think maybe Dogger, a servant of ORLFC should focus on his coaching now.Tootil also struggled and couldn't get into the game with a few dodgy offloads and poor tackling in general. Looked a bit heavy to me, maybe the week off wasn't good for some.

On another day we would have been given at least two more tries and won the game. As for TB, i'm undecided. he's commited to Oldham and strives to suceed but NW with Clive Griffiths have showed what a well organised, well drilled team can achieve. Sometimes we look a bit rudderless when things go wrong but that's down to all not just the coach. Good to see N Roden back and had a solid game. Greenwood gave a good display also but a better pass would have been 6 points for sure.

With a better ref we should have won. Credit to NW though and it makes for a very tough run in.

The Gillam 'catch' was another unfortunate encounter. But NWC crossed a number of times, and in one play crossed twice without penalty, of which, they scored of.
Not looking for an excuse, but was Oldham over 3 times more ill disciplined than their Welsh counterparts? Because the game I watched, they weren't.

Fair comments from Shrewsburyroughyed-but I`d say that the first 10-15 mins were the worst I`ve seen from any rugby side,not even just an Oldham side,in the 45 years I`ve been watching rugby.For me few positives :apart from several clever passes from Neil and the constant threat on attack from Greenwood,we never rose above being (very) `ordinary`.NWC out-enthused us in the second half and,if for nothing else,we didn`t deserve to win it by the end.Yes.quite a bit of effort (the first 10 mins apart) but little to see in the way of guile,trying different options or the like .Of course we`ll hear more comments about `not panicking`,`still a way to go`,etc from CH and TB but
Agree 100% with Shrewsburyroughyed about the atmosphere in the ground and the NWC fans in particular:lots of noise,really lifted their team to a different level to Oldham`s.They deserve to succeed .

Their fans were superb and lifted them no end. The first ten minutes were horrendous, and the last 20 minutes we were starved of possesion.Credit to NWC, they played some great stuff and will be a tough team for anyone to beat from now on.

NW fans were very good and seemed to lift the team prior to the chubby chap's try. The drums and singing drowned out even our own diehard crew.There are lots of advantages to the location of NWC not least the Uni next door which brought in a number of vocal supporters.But of course they are not under the pressure that Oldham feel and I think that was evident in our own crowd support and in the play of the first 25 which was dreadfull. Still at the end the Roughyeders were supporting as ever. A credit to ORLFC. I struggle to see where the imaginative play will come from though when plan "A" fails.

He actually jumped from the field of play, and took the ball dead. If he'd have left it, it would probably have gone straight out anyway, so you would have got the penalty. Doesnt matter who you're supporting on that one TBH.

Regarding the pass late on second half, it was deffo forward.

I was sat directly in line with the pass to Elly and it was marginally forward , no doubt in my mind . It was generally a better display than in recent weeks ( except for the first 10 or 15 minutes when we were woeful ) but still nowhere near what we are capable of . At 22 -10 just before half -time we were well on top and thought we'd kick on in the second half but just didn't happen and the longer the game went on the eventual result seemed inevitable , helped by us giving away far too many silly penalties in the second half ....yes there were some 50/50 decisions which went against us but can't keep blaming the ref if we keep making it easy for him to penalise us .

Was hoping to see a few of our injured back in action but was disappointed to see that Neil Roden was the only one to return . Was impressed with the new signing , Colton Roche I believe , but pity he didn't see more of the ball as he showed he is a strong runner and can break a tackle . Have been generally happy with our loan signings and don't like singling out individuals for criticism but imo Dave Toothill doesn't seem like he's playing for a permanent move as he looks either unfit / uninterested ( or both ) to me and if he's not putting in the performances on the pitch can't see what he brings to the team.

No intention of throwing the towel in whilst we are still in with a shout but no doubt about it each defeat makes a top 4 spot harder to achieve ...got to get back to winning ways immediately as failure to beat Rochdale and Whitehaven in next matches will leave us with a mountain to climb.

Just had a text of tb saying the pen count was 15-6 first half, nd 9-0 second half, and having watched the dvd, most were wrong. How can you win games with that poor level of refereeing. Haven play worky the weekend we play hornets,, and we go to haven the week after. We win both them games, and were back 4th. Come on, support the team. Come on the roughyeds
