I think we realised pretty quickly after the first couple of games that the team we had wasn't good enough hence the influx of dual reg forwards. We have improved steadily since then particularly since Watto started to take the line on as opposed to the stand and pass mode that was prevalent at the start of the year. When you consider we've lost five games I think it is by four points it shows we are not a million miles away and could have easily been in the play off places by now.Ive said all along that for me it was what happens off the field this year that is our priority particularly with no worry of relegation.

I am not saying that we are a bad team, on the contrary I think we can compete with anyone, as we saw against Halifax, Featherstone and Huddersfield.

It's a massive jump up to the championship and we can't ease up

I was hoping for a play of place this season with the team we have.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I don't think so...

so Come on you Lions

At the beginning of the season John Kidd said were looking for a place off place I think this was optimistic, new side going up a division playing some teams who are established in this league. At beginning of season I would have been happy with not finishing bottom, due to our performances this has all changed.

We are a very good side and will take good sides to beat us, I also think that experience is also why we have improved as in playing in the league learning from our mistakes getting use to the speed and power of this league and also having the best coach outside super league helps .

I agree with you duffymoon everything is set in place on the field and heading in the right direction, our main priority is of the field this season and the fact we have not heard anything is in my opinion very worrying. So if anyone from the club is reading this can you please tell us something no matter how small it is.

I also think swinton should start thinking about resigning some of the squad for next season i think players play better if their future is sorted out early, with a few qaulity additions swinton could have an even stronger team next season

What concerns me is like last year we are losing to many games in the last quarter. For me this is a lack of stamina of our players which would be down to their conditioning.
If we compete for the full 80 minutes, then I think we would win many more games even though the teams this year are stronger than last year.I think Steve Mac has mentioned about the full 8o minute performance target earlier this season.

There is a definite trend of fading in the last 15 minutes, but I feel the root cause is mental "fitness" rather than physical fitness. Its as though the side believes its rightful role is to be the gallant loser and when it comes to the crunch part of the match is accepting of that fate, rather than believing in itself and keeping a tight grip of a lead.
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

I agree Phil totally it's like our side are not use to winning close matches and they also don't know how to win them either, we all know rugby league is a mental sport as well as physical. I thought after the batley game this would all change.

i agree any info on agecroft would be nice but in my opinion it will never happen, mind you we are about due another announcement (yet again) of a 12 week build schedule for a new ground, then hey presto nothing happens and never will.

I really look forward to you apologising Julian. Just how long did Salford take to get their stadium and even then it took the intervention of two third partys. Have a little faith, i know no news is frustraiting but better having hope than being told no.

i agree with you it is better to have hope but with the lack of progress/lack of regular information in regards to a new ground eventually it leads a lot of people to believe the new ground will never happen, how many times do we have to listen to promises of a new ground soon then for nothing to happen. As per other postings a regular update say once a month on the club website would not go amiss on progress or lack of it over the new ground maybe even detailed plans of the new ground could be put on there and where we are up to regards funding/planning permission etc.

Alan come on we have heard nothing, when we had our meeting at the moorside club everything was on the up but since then we heard nothing. "That old chest nut no news is good news is rubbish", the reason why we have not heard anything because it as gone all wrong if not then we would have heard something. WILL SAY IT AGAIN IF SOMEONE FROM THE CLUB IS READING THIS, GIVE US HARD PAYING SUPPORTERS SOME INFORMATION BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN TO LONG NOW JOHN KIDD, WE DESERVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW.

I appreciate the frustrations we all have regarding the lack of information on a new ground but I must question what would be the "official" forum for any such announcement? I assume this would be the "website" but having watched these forums for some time I have seen little on the state of the Lions website!

I am sure we are "doing our best" but is there anyone out there who can help.? In the modern IT savvy world how can we survive without a website. Now am I missing the point but other than a trickle of "news" stories (available elsewhere) and a "hidden" spelly blog (much appreciated) we cannot even manage a squad list! .....

Shirts for sale? Tickets for the next match?

Pleased to see that season tickets are still available at £150 for the remaing 4 home games (sarcasm is not my Preferred approach). Until I raised the issue in December these details were not even mentioned on the website with Xmas coming up...

Now I admit to knowing nothing about website development or maintenance, what chance a ground if we cannot run a website?

Am I too harsh or is it the worst website in professional rugby league (worse than the whole championship and championship 1(credit to Gateshead Thunder ...they even have a history page.))

Rant over.......sorry.

There is plenty of info on the website it just takes some finding.
It is not perfect though . The layout is poor and pictures are at a premium. We are however in general up to date which answers many of the criticisms of seasons past.
I don't know what world some of us live in but this recession must have affected the club and the stadium. I have had to wait six months for a new pair of trousers due to government cuts.(working for a huge local employer)
A little realism is required I think.
I would say again...the willows stands empty and unused.

My worry are Johns words from the meeting at Moorside SC. " There is no plan B"
