A big thank you to Border TV for showing highlights of the Workington Schools Olympics that were held at Derwent Park this morning. Town's Community team of Marnie Jackson, Brett Carter and Jarrad Stack deserve all our praise for a brilliant job well done in organising the event and coaching the children over several months for the various events. They have been involved with 15 junior and infant schools who each sent along 94 children plus others doing Zumba and other events.

Watching the highlights everyone seemed to have had a wonderful time and many parents were full of praise for our club and their part in the proceedings. I don't think we made the News and Star though!!!!!!!!!

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

It would of been a good idea to hand out free tickets to the children for the whitehaven game while they had so many down, accompanied with a full paying adult it might of brought more spectators down???

Very well done Workington town. Brilliant effort. The club seems to have turned a corner over the past two season and there seems to be a feel good factor around the club again.
