in today's Press - deserves a bit better luck with injuries & someone to take the pressure off him
every game on the pitch & hopefully he will get the reward for the effort & commitment he puts in.

Also states that the club hopes to conclude a deal for next season with John Davies within a few weeks. Would be an excellent signing.
He spoke to Batley but decided to stay loyal to York. Great bloke.

Nothing official yet of course, but all very encouraging from what I heard today.

Hope Davies does sign but let's wait until the ink is dry, been there before with so called definite signings. Positive that the club are already starting 2013 prep, however, no matter how hard some of the current squad try there is not enough quality to be competitive through a full season at this level and somehow we need to bring in a few more older heads and some more physical size, only my opinion.

Davies is a really good player, can do a lot of damage running outside/inside centres, difficult to stop near the line, reminds me of another former great; Bull - John Smith, came from same area as well.

Agree that we lack the "know how" and the physical size that is needed to compete in the Championship.
Does anyone know what happend to John Smith? Remember watching him play for York Acorn after he left the Knights, was a good 2nd rower who's fall from favour seemed to be quite rapid.

Going back to the Wasps, John Davies reminds me of Andy Hill, also 2nd rower.Davies is a really good player, can do a lot of damage running outside/inside centres, difficult to stop near the line, reminds me of another former great; Bull - John Smith, came from same area as well.

John Smith didn't have a fall from grace , he broke his foot in a gardening accident & it took a long time to heal , he still lives round Fev area I know a few lads from work who are mates with him , not playing anymore I believe but went back to Fev Lions for a bit
Thanks for the information. Shame about the injury, was a fearless player who never took a backward step.

Thought I have heard he was packing it in a bit back, but think that might not be correct now.
If he got back to full fitness & playing again, could have a big impact on the balance of
the 2013 squad for the new coach.

Anybody know the latest situation with Haynsey??

Sat with James for a while on Sunday. Has exploratory op booked in August where they are hoping to basically 'file down' the troublesome bits of disc. Thinks he might be good to go for pre-training for next season.
He has been offered a new contract for 2013.

Bring in a decent coach with good contacts (Noble or Gary Thornton for me).
Sign good, experienced players in key positions, allowing for a settled team formation.
I haven't seen enough of the 2012 team to judge who should be kept on, but if we stick to our guns with the points above, it should go some way to seeing a winning team back at York. Easier said than done I know, but its not rocket surgery.

Sack off the dual-registration farce.

Agree 100%.
Andy - Thanks for the update on Haynsey - sounds a lot more positive, him fit
makes a massive difference to me.
Also, club not commenting of the JT to Cas story at the moment.
