'The Centurion' is the match day magazine of Leigh Centurions. here's a flavour of what's in this week's edition: -

CEO TREVOR BARTON tells us about the team bonding and the players re-signing for next season

Head Coach PAUL ROWLEY looks back at the Sheffield game and explains that a surprise team selection was well planned.

JOHN DUFFY also looks back on the Sheffield game, and how Martyn Ridyard took on extra responsibility.

DAVE PARKINSON also reports on the Avignon and Sheffield victories, updates all his statistics, and reports on the Under 18 development squad’s first defeat.

‘Love Rugby League’s’ JAMES GORDON is encouraged by the extension of the England v Exiles clash, to a two-match series

NATHAN LAWRENSON has caught up again with Batley’s coach, John Kear, for another excellent interview. John expresses his surprise at how the Northern Rail Cup is structured. Welcome to the Championship, John!

Director JOHN RODDY writes about the launch of our exciting, new website

League Express’s GARETH WALKER exposes the ridiculous organisation of the Anglo-French Challenge.

WAYNE KEEGAN was on his own snapping the Avignon game, while MAURICE JONES was, ironically, doing a shoot in the South of France!

ALAN EDGE investigates the reaction to M.P. Andy Burnham’s ‘P&R’ campaign and produces updated stats on our visitors’ season.

Leigh M.R’s JEFF GORSE looks at continental clashes in RL, and Leigh East’s TERRY GORMAN bemoans some of the problems facing amateur clubs, having switched to summer rugby.

RICHIE BLACKMORE looks back at some recent upsets in Sooper Dooper League, and rues the fact that the media seem to be missing the point.

LYNDA PIKE has a comprehensive update on LISA news and issues a plea for help for a local youngster and his mum.

Ex player JASON DONOHUE presents his first piece on the newly formed ‘Leigh Centurions Players Association’.

We have a ‘Letter from America’ from one of our U.S. followers, PAULINE ALANDER, who is excited at the prospect of watching her first ‘live’ game, when Dewsbury are in town, in July.

Once again, there is the usual squad information, and Lottery, Commercial, Junior Centurions and Touchdown news – and incredibly ‘The Centurion’ is still a snip at just £2.50.

Make sure to buy your copy good and early.

to the Mount many years ago?

I believe so, yes. Talking of Stan Gittins, a very talented player, who I also played RU with, I believe the young lad from Leigh Miners Rangers, (Lee Gittins) who we trialled against Avignon, is a relative of his.
