Melbourne Storm have been dealt a blow with the news that full-back Billy Slater will be out for up to six weeks following his knee injury in the latest State of Origin game.
Australian Slater suffered the injury in the first half playing for Queensland but soldiered on to finish the match against New South Wales before a scan revealed posterior cruciate ligament damage.
Melbourne will now be without their man for the key Telstra Premiership matches against Manley Sea Eagles and Canterbury Bulldogs who sit close behind in the National Rugby League ladder.
Slater is also set to miss for the crunch decider against New South Wales in Brisbane as Queensland aim to win their seventh straight State of Origin series.

Given that there's an element of the media that reckon Storm only have five significant figures: Billy Slater, Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk, Craig Bellamy and 'all the rest'.
losing Billy for 6 weeks will be a significant loss.
It'll be interesting to see Storm play without Billy, see who goes to full back, see whether Storm suffer badly.
We'll certainly miss him, hopefully not too much!

Of the three up coming rounds only this Monday's game with Manly is 100% negative for Melbourne.
Played at Brookvale with 1st choice FB out & backing up from Origin.
The Bulldogs game is to be played at Mackay
And round 17 is against the always defeatable 'BYE'
A 4 point gap & 100 point differential don't hurt either.
Gaz n Coop are hitting form as the halves,so I'm guessing Duffman will be the FB replacement.
