Pennine League or does new leagues suggest they're changing them? From what I've seen the Pennine League have ambitions of running the whole winter game with regionalisation where necessary. Good luck to them I say.

You're doing the right thing by your players playing where they want. I was merely suggesting the practicalities of a NCL application.

Pennine are committed to the traditional season and not taking over BARLA, the new Division/Divisions is on the agenda at the next BARLA meeting.

Which clubs would the new divisions be aimed at?

Not sure to be truthful but I'd expect the Pennine Premier, top sides in the other BARLA leagues, sides like Thornhill and any disgruntled NCL sides. IMO I'd form two division to allow other sides to grow.

Sounds like a clash between the Pennine League and BARLA in the making? Because I think such a league could be done within the boundaries of the Pennine League.

No clash, BARLA know what they need to do in responce, the only clash could come from the clubs who may not want the new league.

I hear maybe five NCLclubs have asked Barla about a return to a good standard Winter league . .Less than those who originally voted against the summer project but fair enough - each to his own ......... the NCL however will expect up front honesty from those concerned . Plans have to be made for next year after all. Anything short of that will reflect badly all around , and are bound to have systemic repercussions if division occurs

Normanton, Eastmoor, Heworth, Castleford Lock Lane and Castleford Panthers would be my guess. Though I wouldn't rule out Myton being one of the 5 either. I just think premier and lots of Hull derbies will be more of a draw to summer. Plus their performances are good.

If they're honest about what they're doing and fulfil they're summer fixtures then they should be able to make that choice.

Two are west of Pennines Bowes.....so it's not a guessing situation.

It may be nothing more than casual enquiry....

But I would expect those concerned to share their proposed / possible / potential futures with their existing network // organisation / League in a professional and confidential manner....

That's odd given there's only a residual NWCL left in winter

I'd have expected any club to have waited a couple of seasons to be truthful, but every waterfall starts with a trickle.

Bowes I know of another club you have not mentioned where the players are against summer.

Actually if the NCL loses 5 pro winter clubs and replaces them with Underbank, Kippax, Nottingham and perhaps Coventry among others they'll have a much more solid majority in favour of summer in any future vote.

But they are used to travelling.

True but their reserves wouldn't have much of an exciting league. Or if one of the clubs is Egremont no league at all.

Absolutely agree Marauder. Clubs need to give their choices time.....

But the NCL has never been in the business of losing clubs Bowes , without good cause and on good terms........

The RFL have used the pincer movement already on BARLA and to be truthful I expect Kippax to lose a few players before the end of the season back to their BARLA clubs.

If they can be persuaded to give summer another season then they can be persuaded that this was the worst ever summer season when they see what a normal summer's like.

But if not then the will of the vast majority for summer has to be respected.

Of course they may find it impractical to switch to the NCL again when winter sees months of called off games and they're still playing in May and the NCL is already long since started

28 clubs voluntarily chose summer. The other 10 were offered winter by BARLA and one chose it which is fair enough. The other 9 decided to go summer after all. If they're subsequently whinging they can only blame themselves and not the RFL for accepting the wishes of the vast majority. Otherwise we'd all be playing RU still out of not wanting to lose Dewsbury (who changed their mind a few tears later anyway)

Any idea of the total number of applications? Obviously the names are confidential bar the 3 that are already recommended entry. But just so I can get some idea of what this would mean for number of new teams next year if 5 teams are lost.
