Nederland Development v Durham University

A Nederland Development XIII hosted a visiting Durham University side at the new Sparta complex in Cappelle aan de Ijssel on saturday evening and the mix of young and experience proved to strong for the visitors as the Dutch ran out worthy 52-22 winners. On a bowling green of a field the Developing Nederland team played some enterprising football to overwhelm their English visitors with a ten try performance.Solid work by the bigger home pack laid the foundations for their young fast backs to punish the Durham defence with a host of long range tries. For the first twenty minutes the contest was even on a warm dry night as the University sides more experience at the thirteen a side code gave the home team some problems.Gerbert van Bochove opened the scoring in the 13th minute as the strong running second rower broke the Durham line to race 40 meters to put the Dutch in front.Etiuefa Fiavaai added the conversion.Durham hit back almost immediately to level the scores before a second Dutch try and conversion made it 12-6 after 20 minutes.Again the visitors refused to lie down and a second try form the university side took the score to 12-10 on 25 minutes. After that the Dutch started to get on top,Tacoe de Boer and veteran Duncan van Dam where punching holes in the visitors defence,Amir Rademaker the home teams influential young scrum half was directing the play as the Oranje ran into a 28-14 half time lead.
In the second half the superior fitness of the young Dutch backs shone through as they capitalised on the work the forwards where doing and the tiring defence of the visitors.A further five tries took the home team to a 48-18 lead.Durham hit back in the 75th minute before the home side clinched the half century with a try right on full time.
Some very impressive rugby played and 19 year old Rademaker showed his potential by walking away with the man of the match award.

I was home for my days off and was the man in the middle with the whistle. The thing that was encouraging was that the game was played on the same weekend as the Ameland Beach festival which is the biggest union event in the callander.(Thats if your asking about union players). The team had a very mixed bag of union players and NEW guys who only want to play League.Included in the side were some Pacific Island guys all around the 18-20 age group that are residents in Holland and boy could these boys play.
Looking back since it all went #### up in 2008 I would say this new group of players and admins are heading in the right direction.

Despite 4 lost years its nice to see the Oranje playing the ball again

Is any of the last board/admin structure still in place?

(Dont answer that if youd rather the 4th Amendment!)
