Yep.,more fool me for believing that we`d do it.Full marks, though,to Hornets, esp in defence.I felt sorry for the younger lads and in particular for Greenwood who looked dangerous every time he had the ball - the only one. They beat us by a higher level of skill but mainly by their (apparent ) better preparation ,obvious physical toughness and excellent team spirit.
CH won`t go=he`s on too much of a good thing-wonder what money the club will be able to afford to pay him next year and still remain sustainable ? ; TB ,if he had any honour, would go with immediate effect.A dynamic duo -in reverse,ie downwards.Crowds next season.?..having made a fool of myself with the previous prediction-won`t try my hand now.

CH has nowhere to go. He is ORLFC as it stands. If he throws the towel in then then the club ceases to exist. End of.
Ain't it funny how you think you're gonna be OK
Till you remember things are never gonna be the same again?
Ain't it crazy how you think you've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever in your hands?

And can't see TB quitting. His career is over. Who'd have him now?

You are incorrect Oldham Gal...If CH threw the towel in...In that situation there is an organisation who would do what they could as a last resort...
So it wouldnt be end of, but maybe a new beginning that the rugby fans of Oldham could actually TRUST and INVEST In!

If you mean Rugby Oldham then it is a fantastc fantastic bunch of people. I was on the board for a few yrs till I moved to Tellins.
I have no doubt (as a member) they want the best for rugby in the town.

OldhamGal what a load of utter bull
Why would Oldham not exist without CH?

I am not 1 of the anti-CH brigade but change is needed
Look at our neighbours who thrashed us today
Why can't we do that?
If CH would let go then we'd have a chance to!!

Hi all
sorry for not being able to go to many games, went to wales 2 week ago and love it,
sad to see our great club going the way it is. thought we might have got back on track today
with a win, but was not to be.
Never went today, but was kept informed with the score and other happenings, but just one question
i want to know, after the home matches, i believe our photographer does the speeches now, does chris
and tony not speak to the fans now after the games?

PLEASE KEEP THE FAITH .

I honestly thought we'd turn it round today.
We were awful and to be frank there's nothin to keep the faith about....we've never been this low...the only way out is to change the whole setup from top to bottom

Alright tanty pants!

ORLFC is CH's business so I'm assuming he could just call time and shut it down if he chose to? End of the current ORLFC.

Not saying he would, just that if everyone is correct about him being soul boss, he could.

Will there always be an ORLFC? I used to be sure about this, used to be confident that there was always a hardcore of 1000-2000 Roughyeds who would take up the mantle if things went pear shaped. CH was one of them back in 1997 and for that I will always be grateful to him. However, I personally know literally dozens of people who have gradually become completely disenchanted with the club, and some of them even the sport. Is that due to performances and our failure to get out of the 3rd division? Is it due to being homeless and not having a place to put down roots? Is it due to the perpetual winding up orders from HMRC and the perception that the club is being financially badly managed? I'm sure in part all of these things have contributed in some way. How have we gone from the euphoria of the first game against Rochdale and the NFP Grand Final in 2001 to this?

Have the club suffered major setback during this time? Absolutely. So why are we not rising up and in adversity fighting together for what we believe in? Surely that's what being a Roughyed is isn't it?

Sadly, the answer is there is no WE anymore, such is the devisive split amongst supporters, unless major changes happen I really do fear the end of ORLFC.

I'm too sad even to apportion any blame, I just feel like the wind has been taken out of me.

Very well put sheddings i really wasnt going to post on here anymore i am so disillusioned with the club and to be honest with what was once a great sport in general the game has gone to pot with a joke super league system which has killed the levels underneath it..

But back to the club in my opinion there is only one person to blame for the demise of our great club and that is the chairman and owner he as alienated now 99% of people who cared about this club either through is lack of information, very very poor man management, pathetic stubborness to accept help or advice. It's his toy and is entitled to do what he wants with it but sadly he has lost almost the entire town now and until he goes never mind the coach who should have been replaced two years ago. I wont watch the club again. I am not willing to pay high prices for basically amateur rugby league run by a man who really doesnt have a clue.. Go please Mr Hamilton or the club is dead..

I don't know CH personally and I am genuinely sad that things haven't worked out for him. I do believe we still owe him a debt of gratitude for stepping in back in 1997. I also hope he doesn't simply see the club as his company - any owner is only ever a temporary custodian of our club. As such, it's a real shame that the communication with supporters (the real owners in perpetuity) has been so poor. I for one have no evidence to doubt CH's enthusiasm or how hard he works. Perhaps we'd appreciate that if we knew more? However, at some stage, there will be the realisation that he cannot take the club forward on his own. Nobody, no matter how super human could do! Therefore, should he put the club up for sale? With no assets and more than likely some debt, a token sale price of £1 has seen the revivial of other sporting clubs. Would CH consider this when in essence his own RFL fundeded salary is on the line? Would this be the turkey voting for Christmas?

There are far too many unanswered questions, however, one thing for sure is that we have hit a new low. In what is a development league next year, there will be no requirement to develop the stadium and even less revenue to fund it. Where on earth do we go from here?

Sheddings69, Very good post.

We are at rock bottom at the moment but if you are at an all time low the only way is up. This years squad is not much different from last years team but for me the players have no direction or game plans that is the coaches job. I have never been a fan of sacking coaches mid season but I think to retain the business the club needs a fresh injection of coaching ideas from a new coach, however TB salary is the lowest in the league so who is going to replace him for a low wage? (Source -Rumour)

I am with you, I didn't know CH personally and I also agree if it wasn't for him in 1997 we wouldn't even be having this conversation because we would have no club to complain about.

I read this forum carefully, some posts are ill informed rants by people who but even turn up to watch their team play and other posts are very informative, structured and they contain knowledgeable contain that makes sense to me. I support Oldham no matter what or were we play, yesterday was very depressing but it is my club and I support them, if people have had enough and they do not what to come again then so be it, life is about choices. People be slate CH but people slate most chairman in any sport but not many volunteers are going forward to take his place. How many people would want to be a chairman of a sports club, A truly thankless task.

We have work with what we have got and keep moving forward.

Great post again, Sheddings 69.

Were does this thought that CH was our saviour in 1997 come from? There were other people involved at the time and slowly CH upset them all over the years, so much so that they withdrew their support from the club that they had helped resurrect and disappeared into the mist.

Were does Sean Whitehead stand in all this, is he still a Director of the club and if he is surely he should have some say and input in club matters.
