It is with regret that Oldham Boro FC announces that we must leave the borough temporarily to play our home games next season at Atherton Collieries FC ground, Alder Street, Atherton.

This decision has been made following an FA directive that football clubs sharing a ground with a club of another sport must have priority in respect of fixtures. Unfortunately, as tenants of Oldham Rugby League Club at Whitebank Stadium, it would not be possible for Oldham Boro to comply with this directive .
We are extremely grateful to Atherton Collieries FC for their help and assistance in allowing us to play our home fixtures at their ground

This was posted on the Oldham Forum about Oldham Boro Leaving the rugby ground. If this applies at NON league level does it apply at all levels and how many clubs who share with football teams realise the implications?. I cannot see St Helens moving thier game to suit St Helens town somehow

It's the Oldham semi-pro soccer team that's moving not the RL team so it won't affect any of our teams!!!!!
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
