XIII DEL DUCATO vs ARIETE ESTE
The FIRL, is pleased to present the final of the Italian Serie A RL, which has reached the epilogue.

After the conclusion of the preliminary rounds, which saw 8 teams dispute the Italian rugby league championship, the first placed side in North West group (XIII del Ducato) and the North East group winners (Este Ariete XIII), on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the stadium W. Beltrametti of Piacenza, at 18:00, will play for the title of Champions of Italy.

In the Italian Serie A Rl, the following teams participated XIII del Ducato (Current Italian champions), XIII del Duomo, Brescia RL, Parma RL, Padova Grifons, Ariete Este, Padova Melma Silea XIII and Padova 555 RL.

The current Italian champions (XIII del Ducato), have confirmed their strength on the field and the experience accumulated during the last two years and their desire to continue to dominate the Italian league.

The newly formed Ariete Este rugby league team was the surprise of the Italian Serie A RL, winning the right to play in the final in hard fought battle with the Melma Silea XIII. While the Grifons of Padova, due to the loss of their leader Matthew Sands, in Australia to gain experience with the Liverpool Saints, lost the verve that took them to the finals in the last 3 years.

Fabio Di Pietro, coordinator of the Italian Championship, together with Kelly Rolleston, declared that "FIRL are excited about the development this year. For us it has been a success, having increased the competition by 2 teams means the work we are doing is starting to pay off. We have trained new coaches with the coaching course held in Piacenza and now we have several new coaches, who have worked with the new teams. We are progressing and their is more interest and we have increased our internal activity ".

Fabio Berzieri Hogan, captain of the XIII del Ducato declared: "The championship was hard, even if the results don't show it, it was more difficult to reach the final this year and the competition level is rising! We hope to have a lot of support from our public in Piacenza as we try to win the championship for the third consecutive year. We don't know a lot about the Ariete Este we saw from the results that they are unbeaten as so we respect what they have achieved.
On the other side Alfonso Peloso, captain of the Ariete Este, stated that: "When we started this year with rugby league, we never expected to reach the final of the championship. Game after game we gained confidence and suddenly we were able to win against all the other teams. The game against Silea showed our character. Now we are in the final and anything can happen, since we go to Piacenza as under dogs with nothing to lose. What I can say is that we will give our all. "
