The way RL is currently set up towards SL, and with the abolishment of proper P&R, what can an investor achieve by backing a Championship or Championship 1 club?
If someone came into Oldham with an open wallet, and built a great little ground, and we won promotion to the Championship, and from then on, won the whole lot years on the bounce. Would they let a club like Oldham in SL? The answer is a resounding no, based on the foundations of sand the franchising system is built upon.Whilst in the Championship, crowds would not top 2k (look at current Championship crowds to back that up). With very little media coverage - apart from a small audience on Premier Sports, the Championship recieves hardly any media coverage, and Championship 1 more or less nothing, and because of that hardly any money is generated back to the clubs. What is there to really entice that investor to part with their cash when here is no chance of that investor showing their goods in the top market i.e. Super League where they get everything (media coverage, sponsorhip monies etc).

Now bring back a proper P&R system where results are based on the field of play rather than lies on a document, and you would automtically see crowds rise in the Championship once agai, and therefore investors would feel more inclined to part with their cash.
The franchise system was brought in to help stabilse clubs but it shows it doesn't work, as Bradford have highlighted recently.

Saints 10 coach.

You should be bothered about how the club is run not just how they are playing because the two go hand in hand.

As you say we are not playing well but believe in your club as all supporters do.

However to have belief in the people who are in charge and how it is run is a different matter. If that is your belief then fine but I believe you are in a minority and if there are not changes you will be biding your time for a long time to witness any success.

To follow blindly without knowing the way will often take you in the wrong direction.

If you are happy with that fine but many loyal supporters like yourself are not.

We shall have to agree to disagree on this point.

Maybe I am happy with the way things are being run, and my only cause for concern is the underhand way that others are trying to undermine the current owners in their own quest for power. We will have to agree to disagree.

If you want to get control of a business, you should make a business like offer to the owner and see if it is to their liking, and if so they accept. I believe there are factions who are using tactics, like trying to discredit someones character and trying to put pressure on him to resign, so they can get the said business for themselves without paying a bean. My opinion. But that is what on Earth I am on about.

I have heard everything now.

Why would anyone and indeed how could they make an offer for something without having any idea of what it is going to cost them.

Just who in their right mind would want to put pressure on the owners of a club that is heavily in debt in order to take it over.

What is it worth with if the debt ( liabilities ) exceed the assets but nothing.

The original four directors in 1997, which included the two present directors, had the good sense not to buy the Bears out, but to start again with a new club with no debts.

All I want is success for the club and I dont think we will get it under the present system . Its not just The Oldham club or its Directors its a lot of the clubs who are in the same situation.

If someone cannot put an honest opinion about our club in particular and the game in general without tring to turn your comments into something different then you might as well close the sight down for operating under that kind of senario the site becomes different to what it should be An exchange of views without fear of insults etc.

Who said anything about wanting to buy the business? Factions? Tactics? Discrediting someones character? Putting pressure on to resign? Getting the business without paying a bean?

Am I completely missing something here or has it just been an early start to the weekend SC?

Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!!!!

Cart before the horse SC. I said in a previous post if CH wants to sell (he's said he does publicly) all he has to do is put a price on the business and advertise it.

The fact no-one will make an offer gives the lie to the idea that 'factions' (who can you mean?) are plotting to take over. Take over this shambles, you must be joking!

Maybe CH & TB's master plan is to stay in CC1 and wait till next season when Bradford will bring lots of fans. Get them in our NR Cup group and there is a couple of big pay days to be had.

Maybe there is a kernell of truth in this, but not so you can play Bradford.

I'm not banging the drum for or against CH but maybe he understands that while Whitebank is as it is even if you came top of the league you wouldn't meet the ground criteria for the Championship and so wouldn't be promoted anyway.

Maybe he's putting the money away for ground improvements next year or the year after.

Just a simple question really, does anybody know the state of finances at the club, what's the extent of the debt? Has Mr Hamilton said, recently, that he wants to sell? If he has, are there a number of like minded people willing to put their hand in their pockets and start some sort of dialogue with him.
For my part, it really does break my heart to see the club I used to follow all round at such a low ebb. Whilst I have some admiration for Mr Hamilton in keeping the club going and for the sterling efforts of Tony Benson in what are clearly trying circumstances, perhaps they've both taken the club as far as they possibly can...maybe it's just time for some new blood with the aim of getting the passion of the supporters back. Without "bums on seats" it's a long way back from where we are now.
From what I can gather, despite it's geographic location, Whitebank does have potential with some decent investment and it is, after all, the first real permanent home we've had since the demise of the Sheddings.

The only potential is to grow mushrooms on the pitch, its easy, keep them in the dark and feed them s**t - bit like they do to the fans.

When all is said and done, whoever is the coach or chairman let's get behind the team, it's not the players fault the coach hasn't got a clue, or the chairman pays himself a stupid amount of money when the clubs struggling financially, let's get behind the lads for the rest of the season and see what next season will bring
